Spirit-Led Expeditions

MISSIONARY: JENNIFER SMITH

“Then he said to his
disciples, ‘The harvest
is plentiful but the
workers are few.‘
-Matthew 9:37

The Quechua for Christ!
It was winter of 2006 when
God began this work in me...
I sat on a pew at Dewy Rose
Baptist Church gazing at the
screen completely captivated. I
saw the faces of a povertystricken people. It was then that
I felt the calling to go.

Finally, 2007 was my year- a
time that changed my whole life
as I knew it. As I sat in the

jungles of Peru, and looked at
the people, I felt a burden. I felt
a love that I had never felt
before. As I sat in that desolate
village, I began to weep! This
was a hard thing for me to
grasp. I didn’t expect that
this one time trip would become
my life.
Up until this point, I had my
whole life planned out for me.
Most importantly, I had business
at home I needed to take care
of. The Scripture Isaiah 55:8 hit
home for me. God’s thoughts
are not my thoughts and neither
are His ways. So, I finally
accepted this call, under one
condition... “God I need you to
fix the wrongs at home. I can’t
possibly go with lost family at
home.”

“‘For my tho
ughts are
not your tho
ughts,
neither are y
our
ways my wa
ys,’
declares the
LORD.”
Six years and six trips later, Peru
still holds a substantial part
of my heart. God has answered
many prayers.
Since then, God has opened
many doors, and I have been
serving for almost two years in
Peru amoung the Quechua
people. He has changed my
plans and made better ones!

Practically sharing the love of Christ with the Quechua people of Peru...
In November 2011, I moved to
Cusco, Peru, as a full time missionary.
We have been very busy since my
arrival. In 2012, I taught at a local
school called “Promesa” (Promise in
english). It was always my dream to be
a teacher! I was so excited about this
opportunity, and I continue helping at
Promesa a few days a week.
I am also helping in the Quechua
communities. There has been a
discipleship class started in a
community called, “Pucamarca.” This
community didn’t have an active
church before. I am currently teaching
a children’s class while the adults are
taking part in the discipleship class.
We are also engaged in a microenterprise project in the community of
Chinchero. The local pastor that we are
working with selects individuals with
the most need. They then recieve a pair
of pigs to use to reproduce. Those that
receive the pigs then give the first-born
of each litter to another family in need.
Additionally, I have been ministering
and knitting with a group of Quechua
ladies in the community of Chinchero.
The group meets every Monday and
spends time knitting and fellowshipping
together. We share a devotion or listen
to the Quechua Proclaimer (audio
Bible). They have also been teaching
me their trade.

We host short term teams form the
United States. They serve in a variety
ways from Vaction Bible School to
animal deworming.
As a missionary of Spirit-Led, I am
faith-based. This means
that I personally raise my prayer and
financial support, and I
trust Him with the results. My monthly
support covers my living expenses,
language-schooling and outreach
financing for outreach projects.
You are receiving this letter because
you are special to me and have been
there in the past, and I want you to be a
continued part of what He is doing in
Peru. I ask for you to partner with me
in prayer, and I want to keep you
informed all along the way with news,
prayer updates and more- I want you
on the Great Adventure with me!
Second, I also need monthly financial
partners to help continue this work in
Peru. Please pray over this and respond
as God would have you. If you do feel
called to give finacially, monthly or onetime, feel free to contact me at
jennifer@spiritledexp.com.
Thank you for all that you do for His
Kingdom! I pray that God would bless
you and all your endeavors!
To the adventure,
Jennifer Smith
