Work Experience
2013‐2014:
Direct marketing, SIA BalticMiles
A part time job, parallel to high school studies.
Approached and convinced potential clients to sign up for Baltic
Miles loyalty program.
This work improved my social skills, as well as my ability to work in a
team.
Relevant interests and activities
Young enterprise
During the high school, I participated in Young enterprise programme, together with some
classmates we set up a company “Green Glass”. The company was developing and selling water filter
systems together with glasses, all from “green” resources.
Erasmus
In 2013, I went on an Erasmus programme “Gamification” in Berlin, which focused on using
game methods and best practices in work environment.
Social activities
I participated in school council, filmed and edited several school event videos.
School time learning interests
Advanced programming lessons in school showed me how much one can do with the help of
programming. During school I programmed in C++, and created programs starting from Quadratic
equation solver to Mandelbrot set and encryption tools.
Skills
Teamwork
Working in Baltic Miles close cooperation in teams was crucial for optimal work
performance. On Team Projects module (university module, which involves software development in
a simulated client‐company scenario), working in a team with 4 other students, in first deliverable
we achieved second best result from around 20 teams.
Leadership
On Team Projects I was a team leader, identifying the strengths of each team member,
distribution of the workload accordingly, dealing with progress issues, managing communications
between team and “client”. Leading a Young Enterprise Company with multiple employees, I had to
keep the company focused towards achieving goals, as well as ensure optimal management.
Communication
Working in direct marketing I had to communicate a lot to understand clients’ interest in the
loyalty program, the advantages and reasons, of why they should sign up for the program. Team
Projects module involves communication with “clients”, in order to understand their needs, and to
communicate our capability, creating a timetabling system.
Problem solving
Leading a Young Enterprise Company I faced and successfully overcame management,
product development and distribution obstacles. Programming in general is problem solving. For any
programming task I search for viable solutions and identify the ones leading to optimal results.
Computer skills
VBA (Excel), JavaScript, C++, PHP, CSS, HTML, MySQL, Microsoft Office, UML (Visual Paradigm)
Languages
Latvian – native, English – fluent, Russian – communications level
