This instruction sheet is for a typical installation in a EK chassis Civic, Civic 1996-2000
Other vehicule are very similar.
Gently pry plastic trim clip from lower part of kick panel.
Remove plastic screw from upper part of kick panel.
Pull down of panel slightly up and toward the rear of the car to remove.
This will expose the hood pull cable end.
Carefully remove the remaining portion of the plastic handle from the
metal cable end. Heat will aid in easier removal.
Take your time to remove the plastic.
With all the plastic removed from the cable end, a square area on the
cable end should be visible toward the cable mounting bracket.
Slide there new hood release handle all the way onto the cable end and carefully
tighten the hex head set screw with the supplied hex key. Do not over tighten.
Do not over tighten.
The set screw will hold onto the shoulder of the cable end securely without over
tightening.
Optional: you can use a drop of Loctite to hold for the set screw in place.
Re-install the plastic kick panel.
Consider greasing the hood latch for smoother operation.
Required tool: Blade or knife or wire cutters, hair dryer or a heat gun to heat the plastic
remaining on the cable. Optional: Loctite for the set screw.
Set screw dimension: (M4x4mm, Allen key size 2)
The harder part: Is to remove the remaining plastic. If you use a heat gun or air dryer to
heat the plastic it will be easier (5-7 minutes).
Normally all the process take 15 minutes.
