What is Ingress?
• Ingress is a GPS game played on a smart phone, there
are two teams, Resistance and Enlightened.
• Teams score by capturing portals, found at places of
art, history, and culture.
• To play the game you travel to a portal, it can not be
played from home.
• To move up to highest levels in the game requires
travel to other cities and encourages exploration outside
your own city, building a team, and building leadership,
social, and political skills to lead the team to victory.

What is an Ingress Anomaly?
• A regional event where Ingress players, called agents,
gather to capture a city.
• The two teams face off over the course of a day, and
must capture more portals than the other team to win.
• A lot of planning and strategy goes into an anomaly,
agents spend weeks preparing for the event.
• Scores are announced afterwards at the afterparty
gathering, where agents mingle, and make plans for the
rest of the evening. Some go out to do Missions (tours)
of the city, while others go to area pubs and restaurants,
celebrating the day.

Registration is usually conducted from an area restaurant or hotel meeting room.
Registration is typically held from 4pm to 10pm. It is a simple setup: A table to register
and a second table behind the first to hold and organize the registration packets.

After registration, agents typically will grab a bite to eat at the hosting establishment.
Business owners offer to host because of the number of people the registration draws to
their restaurant, and how much extra business they get from it.

Registration is usually conducted from 9 AM to Noon near the event staging area.
Outdoor park pavilions, venues, hotel meeting rooms, or large plazas are best.

Some time between 9AM and Noon a group photo is planned in an area that can hold the
large group of agents who participate in the event (Satellites are typically much smaller
than Primary). Event planners will know how many to expect and plan appropriately.
