Saturn Ion Daytime Running Light Controller

Option 1 Splice in version Instructions

The splice in version requires cutting off the factory turn signal plug
and splicing in three wires on each side. The Ground (black wire) on
car side will connect to port “c” on the plug pictured Below. The
Parking light positive (brown wire) on car side will connect to port “b”
on the plug. The turn signal positive (blue) on car side will connect to
port “a” on the plug. The letters for the ports are stamped on the
connector on the side and the bottom.

Option 2 Plug and Play

To install the plug and play version simply unplug the turn signal
socket from the stock connector and plug the system into the stock
plugs. (this is a $35 option because it requires purchasing new sockets
and taking them apart) Alternatively if you have old ones that don’t
work or extra ones and send them in first the price increase will be $5.

The sockets for the turn signal bulb need to be clocked correctly to fit
into the headlight housing, after you get them to fit into the housing
you may have to push inward to compress the rubber gasket then
turn a ¼ turn until it sits in there tightly. It is possible to turn it to far
which will result in it being loose inside the housing if this happens
just turn it back slightly until it is snug again.

The Control box fits nicely inside the front crash bar place it in laying
down and turn sideways so it fits inside behind the lip of the
aluminum and will not fall back out. It is easier to do this after
installing the lights into the housings.

Load Resitiors (optional)

Optional load resistors available ($7.00) for use with LED bulbs. Do
not use with incandescent bulbs as this will cause too much power
draw and will lead to blown fuses, damage to unit, or worse case
electrical fire. If you do have to replace an LED bulb with an
incandescent for any reason be sure to unplug the load resistor from
the harness. Also load resistors get very hot in a short amount of time
DO NOT Touch a load resistor that has been powered on for more
than a few seconds. There is enough wire supplied with the load
resistor to mount them safely away from anything that may melt or
burn. I suggest mounting them to something metal away from any
wires or plastic parts also make sure the load resistor is not touching
its own wires.

Switchback Bulbs (Optional)

Two versions of switchback bulbs are available depending on your
preference and budget.
Version 1 $30 6 month warranty

Version 2 $45 2 year warranty

The above bulb is also available as amber only for $40

Aux Wires

Depending on your setup you will have three or four aux wires on the
harness at the turn signal socket wire color functions are as follows.

Version 1 retain DRL on Parking light circuit

Red – Daytime Running Light Positive wire
Blue – Ground wire
Yellow – Parking light Positive

Version 2 retain DRL on Parking light circuit

Red – Daytime Running Light Positive wire
Blue – Ground wire
Yellow – Parking Light Positive
Brown – Turn signal Positive

Version 3 retain DRL on separate Circuit

Brown – Daytime Running Light Positive
Yellow – Parking light Positive
Blue - Ground

If you choose custom wiring setup or your wire color varies from the
above colors for any reason a supplement will be included with your
order with wire colors
