EX P ERIENCE
P R OFI LE
I am a creative, highly motivated architecture student
with a passion for design and technology. I believe my
education and work experience have taught me to be
flexible, personable and efficient, with an eye for detail.
I am particularly interested in joining a practice which
appreciates the virtues of good design.
E D UCATI ON
2015 The University of Edinburgh
Master of Architecture (RIBA Part 2)
I have just completed the first year of my masters. The
past year has helped me grow my design and research
skills. I have also learned a number of new software
packages such as Adobe After Effects and Premier
Pro. The increased workload and time constraints
of postgraduate study have improved my time
management and organisational skills.
2011 - 2015
The University of Edinburgh
MA (Hons) Architecture (RIBA Part 1) / First Class
Components include architectural design studio,
history, theory, engineering and graphic expression.
My architectural education has helped me hone my
design and presentation skills, both graphically and
verbally. Many of my design studio projects have been
collaborative, which has grown my confidence in
expressing ideas and understanding group dynamics.

2015 EUSAS (Edinburgh University Student Architecture
Society)
Communications Director
Responsibilities include the design and publication of
all graphic output including posters, brochures and web
graphics. This role also requires me to liaise with other
EUSAS departments as well as external agencies, such
as printers. The fast-paced environment has taught me
to balance design quality with tight deadlines, as I fulfil
this role alongside my studies.
March 2014 - December 2014
Plus Three Architecture, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Architectural Assistant
Nine month work placement at a medium-sized
architectural practice. The role required me to work
quickly and accurately on active jobs including activities
such as: preparation of Design and Access statements,
model-making, 3D computer modelling and rendering,
and communicating with clients, planners and
consultants. The role required me to switch between
focussed office work and customer service. As a
medium sized practice I learned how to work effectively
in a tightly-knit team.
October 2008
Napper Architects, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Work Experience / Shadowing
1 week work experience at a local practice. Introduced
to SketchUp, AutoCAD and CorelDraw.

U21 ‘Shaping the Future City’
Sydney, Australia
International Delegate
In summer 2014 I was selected to represent the
University of Edinburgh in Sydney at a student
conference on urbanism and the state of the future city.
The intensive 15 day event was largely group-work
oriented, and culminated in a presentation attended
by industry specialists. I gained valuable experience in
working in an unfamiliar environment with people from
a wide range of academic fields.
SK I L LS
My architectural education has equipped me with
excellent verbal, written and graphic communication
skills. I am an experienced user of the Microsoft Office
package (Widows + OSX), iWork, Adobe Acrobat
Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, AutoCAD,
SketchUp Pro and Vray. I have a working knowledge
of Final Cut Express, Adobe After Effects and Premier
Pro. I am an active Mac OSX and Windows 10 user. I am
adept at hand-modelling with a variety of materials, and
I am experienced with laser/plasma cutting.
I N T E RE ST S
I am interested in design and technology on a number
of scales: my interest in architectural design has steered
my education, however I also have a passion for
industrial and graphic design, particularly in consumer
electronics. I consider myself very technology literate,
and actively seek out technology related web content.
I also have an interest in travel; my education has
afforded me the opportunity to visit cities such as Rome,
Sydney and Vancouver.

September 2015 - May 2016
MArch 1 design studio project set in the
town of Bodø, Norway. My proposal is part
of a campus of three buildings comprising a
new art college. The program is studio space,
student amenity and gallery space for student work. The project timeline defines this
scheme as the first building commissioned
by the college, therefore it is constructed in
stages, using cost effective materials.

Final year design studio project. This
scheme explores the ability of technology
to manipulate DNA to serve the needs of
society. This biological research centre and
community garden houses a lab which splices
plant genes with those of bioluminescent
animals to create glowing plants. Based
on real-world biological advancements, an
architecture was developed to allow the
production of these plants to be visible and
transparent.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Plus three architecture

March 2014 - December 2014
During my placement year I worked on a
diverse range of projects at +3A in Newcastle
Upon Tyne, ranging from housing schemes,
office fit-outs and masterplanning. My
primary role was the creation of visuals, 3D
modelling (both digital and physical) and the
design of documents for planners and clients.
My experience was a mixture of focussed
individual work and client-facing activities.
I was the key contact for a masterplanning
project and therefore had to maintain relations
with clients, consultants and other agencies.
