I loved designing the cotton candy machine!
The project topic was „the boiling point“. I researched the
temperature needed for sugar caramelisation that gives
birth to cotton candy and decided to design a cotton candy
I let my thoughts flow freely. The Imaginarium of
Dr. Parnassus gave me inspiration.
I designed a machine that is hanging upside down
as oppossed to classic cotton candy machines.
As a part of my investigation I built my own cotton candy
machine at home!
I got the inspiration for this project from The Imaginarium of
a movie filled with multiple fantasy worlds,
to create a fantastic-looking cotton candy machine.
Firstly I experimented how the cotton candy machine works.
I built a small improvised machine consisting of a small sugar bin that is heated and makes the sugar spin while being
caramelised. The centrifugal force and small holes on the
bin allow the fibers of candy cotton to fly out.
This observation proved that this machine can work exactly
the same way when turned upside down.
In this project I used my spontaneity to create something
somewhat curious, fantastic and even dreamy, but based on
technical principles that make the product functional.
