UN3090 Primary Lithium Metal Batteries, Non-rechargeable (Packing Instruction 968 Section 1A)

Dear Valued Customer,
Please be informed that shipper has responsibility to confirm the above lithium metal battery shipment meets the following IATA and
FedEx requirements before shipping via FedEx International Priority Dangerous Goods (IPDG) service.

1. Acceptance Requirement:
Per Cell
The lithium content is greater than 1 gram: Maximum 35kgs (Cargo Aircraft Limit) net weight per package.
Per Battery
The lithium content is greater than 2 grams: Maximum 35kgs (Cargo Aircraft Limit) net weight per package.
Note: Not applicable for Passenger Aircraft.
a) Shipper company must has a certified Dangerous Goods expert who has been trained how to pack, mark,
label and prepare relevant dangerous goods export documentations in accordance to the IATA Dangerous
Goods Regulation.
b) Pre-alignment with FedEx Account Manager to register IPDG service is required and dangerous goods handling surcharge
will be applied.
c) Shipper must be on FedEx UN3090 Section 1A Pre-approval list.

2. Documentation:
Under carrier requirement of “FX-07” and“FX-14” in current IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, Dangerous Goods Declaration
(DGD) is required to go with the shipment (i.e. Two originals plus one copy and it must be typewritten).

3. Labeling (Must be affixed on each package):
a) IATA Hazard label: Class 9 (Minimum dimension: 100mm x 100mm)
b) CAO Label

4. Marking:
Shipper and consignee’s name and addresses, UN number and proper shipping name must be clearly shown on the
surface of the package.

5. Packaging:
a) Must fulfill IATA Packing Instruction (PI) 968 and UN Specification packaging that meets at least the Packing Group II
performance standard. For inner packaging, necessary protection is required to avoid short circuit.
b) Each cell and battery is of the type proven to meet the requirement of each test in the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, P art III,
subsection 38.3 (Note: Aviation Department or Airlines may request document proof if necessary).

6. Special Provisions (SP):
A88, A99, A154, A164, A183 and A201 must be fulfilled.

1. Any person preparing or offering cells or batteries for transport must receive adequate instruction on these requirements
commensurate with their responsibilities.
