Section 1: Directed Writing
You are advised to write between 200 and 300 words. Total marks for this part: 30.


Your Principal wants to start the school day half an hour earlier and end it half an hour earlier. He
has asked you, as a member of the School Council, to write a report on how this change might
affect the students.
Write your report. You must include the following:

what the advantages are of this change

what the disadvantages are of this change

what the School Council recommends and why.

Cover all three points above in detail. You should make your report informative and persuasive for
the Principal.
Start your report ‘To the Principal…’ and remember to add your signature and a date.

Begin your answer on a fresh page.
Write on one of the following topics.
At the head of your essay put the number of the topic you have chosen.
You are advised to write between 350 and 500 words. Total marks for this part: 30.
