Approved programme for
student loans and allowances
Class sizes are limited to ensure individual attention and to
help create a positive team environment. You will start as
an entry level diver and progress throughout the diver
certification levels: Advanced Rescue Divemaster
Instructor Specialty Instructor.
You complete a variety of NZQA unit standards providing
you with additional skills employers are looking for. You
will learn things like how to maintain equipment, fill dive
cylinders, interpret weather, plan and lead dive trips, and
how to participate in a retail environment. The course also
includes a practicum to a North Island dive destination
where you will apply your knowledge and skills. You will
also learn a range of other valuable skills such as
Advanced First Aid and how to produce a CV to kick start
your new career.
Once certified as a PADI Divemaster (about halfway
through the Diploma) you have access to the PADI
employment page with new jobs advertised around the
world daily.

Term 1
PADI Open Water Diver
The skills learnt in this course set the foundation for the remainder of your
programme. Once completed you will be certified to dive to a depth of 18m
independent of an Instructor
PADI Advanced Open Water Diver
You will gain experience in many different types of diving like Deep, Night,
Wreck, Search & Recovery, Marine I.D., and Navigation. Once completed you
will be qualified to dive to 30m.
PADI Rescue Diver & Basic First Aid
You will learn to deal with minor injuries as well as how to respond to an
unconscious diver underwater.
Term 2
Divemaster
You will fine tune your diving skills while learning more about the theory behind
diving. We will touch on physics, physiology, equipment, and the dive
environment. Here, you will start to gain experience working with students.
Term 3
Dive Practicum and Unit Standards
You will learn how to instruct specialist dive courses such as Deep, Night, Hunt
& Collect, Altitude, and many more. We head to a North Island dive destination
where you will apply your newly learnt skills in a controlled environment.
Term 4
Open Water Scuba Instructor
You will begin the Instructor Development Course where you will learn to teach
the PADI core courses. You'll organise and present information, conduct skill
development sessions, and control Open Water dives. You will sharpen your
public speaking skills and learn about student diver safety. Once qualified, you
will be able to teach in more than 180 countries and territories worldwide.
Specialty Instructor
Completing the PADI Specialties will give you additional qualifications and
employment opportunities. Specialty areas you are qualified in will keep your
teaching interesting and fun.
