If you're not sure what to look for when buying shirts, pants or
other types of apparel, here are some tips about what to pay
special attention to when shopping and trying on clothes.

Dress Shirt
• Collar
 It shouldn’t constrict your neck
 If you turn your head, your collar
shouldn’t turn with it.
• Shoulder
 The seam should be at the edge of your
shoulder
• Sleeves
 You shouldn't be able to see the details of
your arm
 When bending your arm, the cuff
shouldn't move up more than an Inch
• Cuff
 They should end where your palm begins

They should not be higher up than a
watch would be
 They should be looser on the wrist than a
watch
• Length
 You should be able to move naturally
without the shirt untucking

Blazers and Suit Jackets
• Collar
 The jacket color should allow 2 cm of your shirt callar to show
• Buttons
 The jacket shouldn’t pull across the chest when buttoned
• Shoulder
 The seam should be at the edge of your shoulder
 Watch out for bends between the sleeve and the shoulder
• Sleeves
 When your arms are at your sides, the sleeve should cover your
wrist but go on farther
 They shouldn’t drastically restrict your movement

 The second button from the bottom should rest above your
belly button

Coats

 What you're wearing underneath the coat
will be a factor

close to your body

 It shouldn’t tighten the collar but just sit
under it
 Choice in knot depends on the collar

Shoes
• Heel
 You shouldn’t be able to fit a finger
behind your heel

• Sides
 Little to no pressure should be put on the
sides of your feet
• Toes
 The front of the shoe shouldn’t press on
your toes
