Dear Sir/Madam
I believe music can be a powerful thing. It is the one thing in my life that has been
a constant, unfaltering passion, bordering on obsession and its my opinion that
the production of a song is just as, if not more important than the song itself.
Some of my fondest memories are of concerts, or of music playing in the
background of something, as it creates real emotion in people. I am a musician,
amateur producer and student, currently studying Popular Music Production (BA)
at the University of Huddersfield. It is my aim to convince you to consider me for a
placement at The Motor Museum Studio.
Having spent time developing my skills in a professional studio environment (at
The Edge recording studio), regularly making use of my University’s studio and
almost constantly producing music at home, I feel I have a solid knowledge of
studios to start out with, but I am well aware I have much more to learn and I am
very eager to get involved full time. I also play regularly with my band in practise
rooms and performing at venues across the North, meaning that I am very familiar
with setting up equipment. One of my current modules also focuses on Live Music
Production, which means I am capable of setting up a number of mixing desks
and routing them to different speakers and monitors.
Due to my previous experience as an Administration Assistant and working in
restaurants taking reservations, I am used to contacting clients/customers over
the phone, by e-mail and in person. I was also in charge of sorting job applicants
using Microsoft Excel and creating an easy-to-follow filing system.
Thank you for your time and I hope I am considered for the position. The music
industry is something I truly want to be a part of and I am excited by the prospect
of meeting musicians, putting in studio work and learning as much as I can.
