Join us at the Cherokee Public Library,
Cherokee, Alabama for a pre-festival event
featuring the Chickasaw Dance Troupe from
Ada, OK and Freeman Owle, Eastern
Cherokee Storyteller and Stonecarver. The
event is free and begins at 6:00pm. This
event is sponsored by the Oka Kapassa
Festival, Alabama State Council on the Arts,
and the Cherokee Public Library.

An outdoor event featuring music by Arvel
Bird, Paiute/Scottish and storyteller Amy
Bluemel, Chickasaw, will be held at the
Florence Public Library, 6 - 7:30pm,
admission is free. Native American heritage,

culture, and history will be presented through
violin, drum, native flute and stories from
these Native American performers. This event
is sponsored by the Oka Kapassa Festival, the
Alabama State Council on the Arts, and the
Florence Lauderdale Public Library. Bring lawn
chairs but the event will be held inside in case
of rain.
