SUNDAY
4 SEPTEMBER
2016
11AM-5PM
REGENT’S CANAL
CITY ROAD BASIN
ANGEL
ISLINGTON N1
www.angelcanalfestival.org

THE HISTORY OF THE ANGEL CANAL FESTIVAL
‘Angel Day’ was started by Crystal Hale in the 1980’s as a fund-raiser for the
‘Angel’ community narrow boat. She was joined later by Jim Lagden, then
employed by Islington Council for the ‘Brighter Islington’ campaign. When funds
ran out, Jim stayed on as a Volunteer and by 1986 the Angel Canal Festival was
established. Although Crystal & Jim are no longer with us they have left a strong
team of people drawn from local groups, dedicated to keeping the event going.

SPONSORS
We are indebted to our sponsors without whose generous financial
support the festival would not be able to maintain its FREE admission policy
or the many free activities.

A J Morrisroe Ltd, Angel Central, Berkeley
Homes, C B Motors, Gelupo, Gratte Bros Limited,
Groveworld Limited, Islington Borough Council,
Islington Community Chest, Morris Charitable Trust,
Pollard Thomas Edwards, St Pancras Cruising Club,

We are also very grateful for all the help we receive from:

The Narrowboat is a hidden gem and the one and only
pub situated directly on Regent’s Canal in Islington.
A beautiful pub tucked away from the hustle and bustle for those who
enjoy relaxing with friends and family.

THE NARROWBOAT
We have a fantastic range
of cask ales and craft
beers and spirits, as well
as a beautiful selection
