The Teen Center, also known as “The Mix,” will provide a space for
Teens to explore, create, make, and discover new tools and
technologies that are not typically found in a public library setting.
The space will include a maker space for hands on fabrication, a
recording studio and video production booth that will allow Teens to
create and play music, videos and games as well as various areas for
lounging, studying and a variety of new technology resources. The
space will include areas where local organizations can perform as well
as areas for small study groups. The Teen Center will create an inspiring place for Teens to use new technology, equipment, gather socially
and enjoy the San Francisco Main Public Library like never before.
• Water efficient bathroom and sink fixtures.
• Natural light for all reading and study spaces as well as daylight
sensors along all exterior windows.
• 95% of space is equipped with LED light fixtures.
• Resilient flooring is both low VOC, PVC free and Floor Score
• Carpet is low VOC and made from recycled material and is CRI
Green Label Plus.
• Furniture selections include sustainable features such as low VOC,
rapidly renewable materials as well as recycled content.
• Cabinet bases are made of rapidly renewable bamboo and countertops are recycled quartz, both low VOC.
