As a key component of SFMTA’s Central Control and
Communications program, the 31,100 SF Transportation
Management Center (TMC) is located on the 7th Floor of 1455
Market Street; the previous site of a commercial bank data
center. The TMC expands SFMTA operational capabilities and
consolidates command and control functions previously
housed in separate facilities.
• Alternative Transportation- access to multiple public
transportation options and construction of new bike
storage and shower facility for TMC occupants
• Building Reuse- selection of lease space in a previous data
center allowed reuse of components. Installation of new
exterior windows and interior communicating windows
introduced day-light to a previously windowless space.
• Water Use Reduction- upgrade to ultra low flow plumbing
fixtures maximized reduction to achieve exemplary
performance for credit WEc1.
• Lighting Power- installation of high efficiency fixtures to
achieve exemplary performance for credit EAc1.1
