Join our group of 10 artists (or art lovers) for 20 days in a life-changing visit to the ancient kingdom.
Guided by Rui Zhi (Ray) Bian, a Henan-born award-winning Perth artist, your itinerary is tailor-made
for artists. From your base in Zhengzhou, the provincial capital of Henan, staying in a quality 3-star
hotel, your journey begins with a visit to the best art museum and art gallery in Henan. Bring your
own artwork to exhibit and sell in a world class gallery arranged by the biggest Chinese art printing
company in the world. Attend life drawing sessions and travel to many of the most iconic and
picturesque locations in the region where you will be inspired to paint, draw and photograph. Learn
the secrets of making Jun porcelain guided by a Jun Master. Watch the art of Chinese brush painting,
Chinese calligraphy and the making of a stone Chinese seal. Leave Zhengzhou to visit and stay at
nearby attractions: the famous Song and Taihang Mountains, the culturally rich regions of Luoyang
Longmen, the Grand Canal and Kaifeng. Return to Zhengzhou and fly back to Australia with fantastic
memories of your tour and many new contacts in the Chinese art scene.

The $1,100 for the economy airfare includes your Chinese visa. This amount must be paid as a
deposit when you book. Refer to the last page of this document for more details on Terms and
13-14 Nov: Leave Perth and fly to Zhengzhou. Arrive next day. Transferred from Zhengzhou airport to your 3-star hotel
accommodation in the heart of Zhengzhou. Guided visit to the Bank of China to exchange foreign currency (credit cards
are only accepted in large shopping centres).
15 Nov: A day to enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes of China. Visit the public Zhengzhou Museum and the Dream Box
Art Center, a private art gallery located nearby.
16 Nov: Visit Artron Henan in Zhengzhou. The Artron Group is one of the world’s largest printing companies specialising
in art reproduction. It is a major art portal with a focus on artwork auctions, fine arts, museums and photography as well
as other luxury products (cars, banking, etc.). Visit the facility to see the techniques of high-end art reproduction.
The Artron building in Zhengzhou has an integrated gallery where you will be given the opportunity to exhibit and sell
your own artworks. Exhibition framing is available free for up to 5 works of art. Refer to the information on size and
medium provided at the end of this document. You will have the opportunity to order printing by Artron of your
artworks taking advantage of the much lower cost of printing on offer. Results can be as limited edition prints, cards,
calendars, desk calendars or even as an album of your works.
17 Nov: Morning tour of the city of Zhengzhou. In the afternoon, attend the pre-opening of your exhibition at the
Artron gallery. In the evening attend the official opening with invited guests and other Chinese artists (refreshments and
finger food will be served).
18 Nov: Visit the Jun Porcelain Artist Studio. Guided by a Jun Master you will have an opportunity to produce your own
piece of Jun porcelain. With over 1300 years of history, Jun Porcelain began in the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907) and
prospered in the Song Dynasty (AD 960-1127). Jun Porcelain almost died out during the late 20th century but was
recognised as of significant and unique importance in Chinese culture and was rescued and restored.
19 Nov: Attend a demonstration of traditional Chinese Brush Painting, Chinese Calligraphy and of Chinese Stone ‘Seal’
cutting. Chinese stone seals are used by Chinese artists to sign their works. You will have an opportunity to order your
own stone seal with your own name in Chinese characters ($40-45).
20 Nov: Visit local art supply shops in Zhengzhou to purchase art material (charcoal, brushes, pens, paper, easels) in
preparation for the rest of your tour where you will attend drawing and painting sessions and have many opportunities
to paint and draw. Take advantage of amazingly low prices.
21-22 Nov: Attend Life Drawing sessions to draw or paint with other Chinese artists with live models. There is an
opportunity for you to be one of the live models.
23-24 Nov: Leave Zhengzhou and travel for 1 hour to the picturesque Song Mountain – one of the five most famous
mountains in China with many culturally-important heritage sites. Stay 2 nights. Visit Chanxinju (meaning “live with a
Zen heart”) and attend painting and drawing sessions.
25-27 Nov: Travel to stay 3 nights in the Taihang Mountains where you can paint, draw and take photos. The Taihang
Mountains stretch across the provinces of Henan, Hebei and Shanxi. We will be in a picturesque area that spans Henan
28-29 Nov: Travel to stay 2 nights in Luoyang to visit the Luoyang Longmen Grottoes and the Grand Canal Museum of
Sui and Tang Dynasties. Luoyang is rich in history and culture having been chosen as the capital of thirteen of the
ancient Chinese dynasties.
30 Nov - 1 Dec: Travel to Kaifeng to stay for 2 nights. Tour of Kaifeng. Kaifeng was the capital of the North Song
Dynasty in ancient China (AD 960-1127).
2-3 Dec: Return to Zhengzhou to stay 1 night before being taken to the airport for your flight back to Australia. On your
return to Zhengzhou you will be able to collect any of your unsold art works to take back with you. You arrive in
Australia early the next day.

Artron is one of the largest art printing companies in the world. They have a significant presence in the Chinese art
scene and are seeking to establish relationships with Australian-based artists and galleries. They have well-established
private art galleries in major cities in China where they host significant exhibitions. Below is a photo with

Terms and Conditions
Deposit and Final Payment
You must pay the deposit to confirm your booking.
When travelling from Perth, your deposit of $1100 is used to pay for your flights and your visa. Any excess amount will
be used to reduce the price of the tour component.
You may travel from other cities in Australia to join this tour. In that case the deposit amount is $250 and you must book
and pay for your own flights and obtain your own visa. Your deposit will be used to reduce the price of the tour
Your deposit will be refunded if the tour does not reach its minimum number of 6 persons to proceed. (Maximum is 10

If you cancel before we reach the minimum number of 6 persons we will refund your deposit in full.
All other cancellations are not entitled to any refund and all amounts paid are forfeited. We recommend you buy travel
insurance when you book.
Flights & Baggage
If you are flying from Perth, Ray Bian will book your flights. He will require your Full Name (as it appears in your
passport), your Date of Birth and passport details (Nationality, Number, Issue Date and Expiry Date). Your airfare
includes checked luggage totalling no more than 30kg (max 2 bags) where each bag must not exceed 23kg. You must
pay any excess baggage charges.
If you are travelling from other cities in Australia you must book and pay for your own flights. You should notify Ray Bian
of your scheduled arrival time in Zhengzhou so he can arrange your airport to hotel transfer.
You need a visa to enter China.
Complete an application form available from the Chinese Embassy website at http://au.china-embassy.org/eng/ls/bg/
as a PDF file. Print it and complete it (if you have the correct software you may be able to fill it in on your computer and
then print it out). You also need a colour passport-sized photo (not more than 3 months old) and your current passport
(must be valid for at least 6 months after 4 Dec 2016).
If travelling from Perth, Ray Bian will submit your visa application. Send the completed form, photo and your passport to
him (when you book he will provide some options for getting this material to him). Use registered mail if posting. Ray
Bian will be travelling with you from Perth and will bring all passports with him to the airport.
If travelling from other cities, it is your responsibility to submit your visa application and to pay the fee to the nearest
Chinese consulate or embassy.
Artworks for Exhibition
Ideally the 5 artworks you bring with you are on paper or, if on canvas, have the inner frame removed or disassembled
for transport. if you want to take advantage of the adjustable frames available on loan free from Artron then your
paintings, drawings or photographs should be no more than 71cm wide or tall. You may have larger works if you bring
your own internal stretcher bar that can be re-assembled for the exhibition. Your pricing must be in Chinese currency
(CNY). Currently 1 AUD equals 5 CNY. We recommend you prepare an artist résumé (with photo) and email it to
Ray Bian along with a list of the titles of your works so they can be translated into Chinese.
