Investigating Employment Opportunities for
It is no secret that the trucking industry is in desperate need of drivers right now. Here at C.R. England, we are always
looking for new drivers willing to be trained through our program before coming to work for us. But we are also
interested in experienced drivers who are ready to hit the ground running, so to speak. We offer excellent pay,
competitive benefits, excellent equipment, and a no slip seating policy.
If you are investigating employment opportunities for experienced drivers, we know you have multiple options. We want
to use this blog post to explore those options and explain why we believe your best bet is to contact C.R. England to
speak with one of our recruiters.
Working for Temp Agencies
Temporary agencies fill a need within the trucking industry by providing drivers for short-term assignments. Agency
drivers may work a few days for one company then move to another for a week or so. Companies work with temp
agencies to make up for drivers missing due to vacations, medical needs, family leave, etc. Even big carriers like us
sometimes have to use temp drivers for short-term staffing requirements.
Working for Staffing Agencies
The typical staffing agency is different in that it tends to offer somewhat longer assignments. The driver works for the
staffing agency rather than the client, being paid directly by the agency for the time and services rendered.
As with temp agencies, a staffing agency fills a particular need within the industry. They may send drivers to a company
for a three-month assignment leading up to the busy holiday season. They may send a driver to fulfill a one-year
assignment at a company in the midst of a special project. Staffing agencies are better at providing more stable
employment than temp agencies, but they don't do nearly as good a job as carriers looking for permanent placement
Working for an Established Carrier
The third option is the one we believe is best for most experienced drivers with a good record. It is the option of signing
on with an established carrier like C.R. England. When you take a permanent placement job with a company like ours,
your experience as a driver counts for something. Experienced drivers earn more than those still in training, and they can
usually take those assignments that new drivers are not yet capable of handling.
Of course, permanent employment also tends to offer quite a bit more stability along with better benefits. Drivers who
do their jobs as expected don't have to worry about being unemployed either. There are just so many upsides to
permanent placement that they are hard to quantify. Why work for a temp or staffing agency when carriers like C.R.
England are offering excellent full-time, permanent placement positions?
