There is NO Excuse for Domestic Abuse
September 28, 2016
To whom it may concern:
#PUTANAILINITCAYMAN
On Friday, 28 October 2016, we are encouraging businesses and schools across the island to
participate in “Put a Nail in it Cayman”, a campaign to stamp out domestic violence in the Cayman
Islands.
We are asking you to join with us and to encourage your staff to paint their ring finger purple or to
wear purple clothes to work. To showcase your support, we also invite you to post a “purple nail
selfie” on our Facebook page: Cayman Islands Crisis Centre with the hashtag #PUTANAILINITCAYMAN.
If you are interested in making this a month long campaign in your office, Spa Espirit has donated
purple nail polish so that you can create a purple nail bar in your office or business.
Your purple nail is a simple marker of your vow to end domestic violence and sexual assault in the
Cayman Islands. It is also an easy empowering way for anyone – women, men and even children ‐ to
start a conversation about domestic violence and shatter the silence that so often allows it to thrive.
One small statement makes a big difference!
We would ask that you and your employees support this cause by painting and donating, no matter
how small, to this worthy cause. We have set a fund raising goal of $10,000.
CICC is a charitable organization that provides safe, temporary shelter and support services for abused
women and their children and community education programmes regarding domestic abuse and
sexual violence. The CICC offers counselling, education, advocacy, and community resources for
women and their children.
Please feel free to contact the Grace Tham at gtham@kpmg.ky or 516‐3031 should you have any
questions or wish to create a nail bar in your office. We thank you in advance for your donation and
appreciate your organisation’s involvement in this event.
Kind regards,
Grace Tham
