COMMUNITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT FOR SKYHYDRANT PROJECT

edicated and dynamic Rotarians of RC West CDO,
headed by PDG Aldrico “Al” Mañus, are in-charge
of Service Project A on Community and International Service. They conducted a community needs assessment
in two far barangays of Cagayan de Oro City, namely Barangays Bayanga and Dansolihon on June 18, 2016. This
was for the Skyhydrant project update, a proposed global
grant project where RC West CDO is the potential partner
for water sanitation/economic community and development

project in partnership with NGO Balay Mindanaw and Pres.
David Langworthy of the Rotary Club of Endeavour Hills,
Australia.
Rotarians in attendance were PDG Aldrico “Al” Mañus,
PDS Demosthenes “Boy” Du, PAG Armando “Mandy”

FEEDING ACTIVITY AT GERMAN DOCTORS

part and supported the new members’ humanitarian advocacy in celebrating the anniversary of feeding the patients and staff of the German Doctors Hospital
on July 25, 2016. Rtn. Rolando “RD” Delfin of MASSA

Foundation with other RC West CDO Rotarians, Dr. Doris
Tagayuna and PP Edu Alaba, joined in the distribution of
drinks and “kakanin” to the hospital’s patients and staff after
the Holy Mass celebrated by the newly inducted Rtn/Father
Ronaldo Eborde.

FELLOWSHIP & TEAMBUILDING

he Rotary Club of West CDO had its full blast of fun
and enjoyment during their Fellowship and Teambuilding games with the members of the Inner Wheel
Club of West CDO and the Rotaract Club of West CDO held
at the VAAJ Resort of PAG Mandy Tarayao and IWC President Jane at Gitagum, Misamis Oriental on July 30, 2016.
It was attended by 14 Rotarians from RC West CDO,
eight from Inner Wheel Club of West CDO, four from Rot-

aract Club of West CDO, and eight guests and family members. It was considerably a teambuilding fellowship with
fun, relaxation, group games and activities that required unity and teamwork.
The members brought luscious food, the resort had a
clean and awesome ambiance, lots of fresh fruits were
available to all, and the host couple warmly welcomed the
group.

otarians of RC West Cagayan de Oro joined the Inner Wheel Club of West Cagayan de Oro and other
generous donors in the groundbreaking ceremony
at Camaman-an Elementary School’s Special Education
Classroom on June 28, 2016. One of the donors happens to
be Senator Manny Pacquiao who could not make it to the
ceremony.

This is one joint activity with the Club’s project partners
for the implementation of one of Rotary’s Areas of Focus
which is basic education and literacy. Rotarians in attendance were Pres. Erna “Erns” Maagad, PE Tina “Tin” Hidalgo, PAG Armando “Mandy” Tarayao, PAG Almarco “Al”
Brito, PD Jose Clifford “Cliff” Roa, and PD William “Yam”
Malagar.

their vehicles before proceeding to their Pagatpat Day Care Center project.

After teaching them about proper handwashing, the Rotarians present, together
with PDG Fe R. Juarez and Pres. Rachaille Astrid P. Ferrer, give school supplies
and snacks to the children.

AWARDING OF EDUCATION GRANTS TO 25 STUDENTS

5 students of Grades 8, 9 and 10 of Suarez National
High School have been the recipients of the education grants of RC Oshkosh of Wisconsin, USA, the
sister club of RC Iligan Maria Cristina.
This program for School Year 2016-2017 is now in its
fourth year. The 25 recipients received a complete set of
school uniforms, school shoes and socks, and also a complete set of educational supplies with a school bag. For
this year, an umbrella was added in their gift package, in
time for the rainy season.
There were eight boys and 17 girls who have been for-

tunate enough to be recipients since Grade 7. The program was
done on June 15, 2016.

C Iligan Maria Cristina started a Feeding Program for
115 students of Barangay Bagong Silang Elementary
School on July 29, 2016. This will last till August 19,

2016.
The school is a national second-place awardee of the Busog Lusog at Talino program. The Club was given credit by
the school for the Feeding Program which contributed to the
award they received.
