MAIN TEXT: 2 Timothy 2:20-26

you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy”. NIV)
INTRODUCTION
Sanctification is the process of being set apart for God’s work. It is the believer’s efforts in
being conformed to the image of Christ. This is an act of grace by God at work in the life of
the believer to enable him or her produce godly character, having been declared righteous
by justification. We are separated unto Christ when we become born again and we grow in
practical holiness as we live our lives as redeemed people of God awaiting the return of
Christ Jesus.

CONCLUSION
Sanctification is the same Greek word as holiness, “hagios”, which means a separation. The
overall purpose of sanctification is to present the Church spotless and perfect before God. 1
Thessalonians 4:7 states that “God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life”.
Therefore, this holy (sanctified) life must be your goal as a new born Christian.
