Dear Hiring Committee,
As a computer engineering student at McGill University with a particular interest in software
development and simulation, I was instantly drawn to your posting for the software intern position. I am confident that my academic background as well as my diverse experience with software
development makes me a good candidate for this internship.
Ever since I was a child, I have had a deep interest in applying concepts I have learned in
conjunction with my creativity. Throughout my studies in CEGEP and university, I have consistently applied knowledge that I’ve learned from various physics and mathematics courses in the
form of computer simulations. For example, to get a better understanding of planetary motion
in an Astrophysics course, I built a three-dimensional, interactive simulation of planets and stars
orbiting each other.
I was initially drawn to computer programming in high school, when I was motivated to design
video games. I made my first game using the Unity 3D game engine, and along the way I learned
very useful skills such as 3D modeling and complex mathematics for computer graphics. Most
importantly, I began to appreciate the importance of efficient code. Last semester, in a computer
science course, I received the highest grade in a class of 350 people on an assignment that consisted
of building a Java program that solves a puzzle invented by the professor.
The software intern position at Lockheed Martin provides an invaluable opportunity to work on
developing software modules and visual simulation technology. Thus, the functions of this position
correspond to the fields in which I thrive, which makes me very interested in working for the VISTA
team. I have always been very interested in physics and vehicle design, and I thoroughly enjoyed
learning about that as a member of the McGill Formula Electric team. Although I am studying
to be a computer engineer, working with vehicles such as airplanes, trains, and automobiles has
always been a deep interest of mine, so designing simulation equipment for such vehicles is a very
intriguing opportunity. Furthermore, working for Lockheed Martin would be an immense honor,
as it is an elite company in the field of aeronautics. An internship at Lockheed Martin would
provide me with an unparalleled learning experience in the fields of design and business, which
will be essential to my success as an engineer.
I would welcome any opportunity to apply my skills and experience with Lockheed Martin, and
to contribute to the VISTA team in developing modules and applications. Thank you very much
for your review and consideration of my application, and I look forward to your response at your

earliest convenience.
Sincerely,
Bob Sacamano
