Volunteer Position (Brisbane)
Our oceans need you! Make a difference as you work to secure protection of Australia’s marine
life. As the Victorian Stall Coordinator for AMCS you will be building the movement of the Fight for
the Reef campaign, which protects the Great Barrier Reef against the threats of global warming,
farm pollution and industrialisation. Our aim is to build community support for these issues which
will be used as a powerful force to demonstrate to our leaders that we need urgent action on Reef
protection. This will be achieved through coordinating stalls and other events for this campaign.
Position Title: Communications Coordinator
Hours: approximately 6-8 hours p/month
Start Date: ASAP
Purpose of Position
The communications coordinator will form part of the new Brisbane Volunteer Committee.
Coordinating will include communicating with other committee members and delegating tasks
including volunteer newsletters, social media, and supporter emails. This position will form part of
the volunteer committee and its required that you are available for one meeting a month. This
position will form part of the team in Brisbane and reports directly to the Brisbane Volunteer
Coordinator. The Brisbane team is part of the larger nationwide Fight for the Reef campaign.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Coordinating communications and other volunteers to ensure effective delivery of social
media, emails and newsletters
Encouraging and supporting volunteers
Completing volunteer emails and monthly Volunteer Newsletters
Supporting other events and initiatives run by AMCS
Passion for the marine environment
Strong team work skills
Experience in communications (ideal but not essential)
Training will be given to the successful applicant to ensure they feel confident and comfortable in all
of the above. Additional training opportunities available.
