VT KnowledgeWorks Global Challenge Virtual Preliminary
May 24, 2017
The 2015 Global Challenge Virtual Preliminary winner was also the
$25,000 grand prize winner at the August finals!
Students compete to earn up to $5,000 in air travel reimbursement to
advance and attend the VT KnowledgeWorks 2017 Global Student
Entrepreneurship Challenge in August, where student teams from
around the world compete for the $25,000 grand prize.
How it works
Encourage students to develop their entrepreneurial
ideas and showcase their creativity, as well as enhance
their understanding of the requirements for a
successful business venture.
Institutions submit an "intent to support" online
registration by March 3, 2017, committing that at least
one student team from their university will participate
in the Global Challenge Virtual Preliminary.
Who is eligible?
Teams submit a one-page summary of their business
concept by March 31, 2017.
The Preliminary is open to institutions who have never
participated in the VT KnowledgeWorks Global
Student Entrepreneurship Challenge. All participants
must be full-time university students from a non-U.S.
institution and cannot be from an existing VT
KnowledgeWorks Global Partner institution. Students
may elect to work in teams of up to five members and
presentations must be made in English.
How to enter
Institutions need to register their "intent to support"
online by March 3, 2017 at www.vtkwglobal.com/2017/
prelim. Registration is free!
A panel of entrepreneurial business leaders will
choose up to six finalist teams by April 14, 2017 to
compete in a virtual, preliminary screening.
Finalists prepare a 10-minute YouTube video
presentation by May 12, 2017.
A panel of entrepreneurial business leaders will judge
the video presentations and engage in a “live”
question-and-answer session with the finalist teams
via online video conferencing on May 24, 2017.
