The Categories
When submitting your work, you are required to assign it to one of the thematic categories that are
described below. The first three categories refer to photography, whereas the fourth one was created
especially for video submissions. After a short category description, there is a list of related
Sustainable Development Goals listed as an inspiration for the entrant. Those SDGs do not have to
accompany your submission and merely serve as examples illustrating the category.
Please note that you may use only one category (with the two corresponding hashtags) per work. You
may however submit different works to each of the categories.

PHOTOCATEGORY 1 #endmalaria #innovatetogether
Stories about applied research and partnerships tackling malaria. This category focuses on showing
how multi-sectoral collaboration, applied research and innovation lead to new or improved
approaches against malaria.
This category can refer to the following Sustainable Development Goals: #SDG3 Good Health and WellBeing #SDG 8 Decent Work and Economic Growth #SDG9 Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

VIDEOCATEGORY #endmalaria #video

Any positive story related to malaria, research or control work on the ground. This category includes
all videos submitted to the competition. The videos should between two to three minutes long and
filmed only in regions that are affected by Malaria. The video should portray interesting and inspiring
work that is done to fight the illness on the ground. Most importantly, it should send out a positive
message about ending malaria together. Even humorous material is permitted as long as it is clearly
connected with the fight against Malaria. The video should not show extreme distress or devastation.
The dignity of the pictured people has to be preserved. Furthermore, animations are also welcome.
Please include English subtitles, if any other language is spoken.
