Beginning at 8:45am - Weather Wonders! Come and learn
about the components of weather by listening to a song,
participating in a weather experiment, and reviewing
1st Grade Team
9:00-9:45am - 1st graders will be showing some of the
hands-on learning related to our current Expedition: Sun,
Moon and Stars. Students will be retelling some of our
favorite stories, teaching visitors about watercolors and
shadows, and sharing our learning so far. Student work
will be displayed in the hallway.
2nd Grade Team
9:00-10:00am This trimester, 2nd grade students learned
all about schools around the world. They were able to
compare and contrast three different schools with SBCS.
The students then turned this work into a book that they are
excited to share with you.
The students will also be sharing other aspects of their
Expedition about schools and how they are important to
2nd grade also learned a lot about being mindful. They
would love to teach you practices that they learned to help
be mindful in your everyday life.

3rd Grade Team
9:00-11:00am - Third graders will be showcasing their
knowledge of human body systems and healthy choices for
Crews will rotate between (1) sharing their system
presentations (be ready to listen, you may get quizzed) and
(2) completing the Fun Fit challenge (be ready, you may join
in on running/ push ups/ or sit and reach).
Fun Fit location depends on weather. Location also determines
length of event- if indoors the scholars won’t be running and
will only need 30 minutes instead of an hour.
Ms. Becky Fun Fit @ 9am, followed by presentations in the
Ms. Rachel presentations in the classroom at 9, Fun Fit @
6th Grade Team
9:00-10:00am - SOCRATIC SEMINAR in EXPEDITION
6D in Mr. Gaber’s room and 6C in the Library with Mrs. B
Have you ever wanted to learn more about the most powerful
civilization of the Ancient World? If so, please join the 6th grade
students as we conduct Socratic Seminars. Feel free to
participate in the conversation!
4th Grade Team
7th/8th Grade Team
9:00-10:30am - Students will first interview parents to find
out how their families came to Baltimore. Then the students
will share the narratives and reflections they wrote about the
immigrant students they interviewed.
Literacy - Explore the question, “What common themes are
universal to refugees?” in Ms. Nora’s room from
5th Grade Team
Would you like to learn some interesting facts? Facts
anywhere from the origin of autumn holidays to seasonal
changes and its effects on our animals and plants. Come join
our Culminating Event! Our scholars will be showing off their
technology skills! In Ms. Baptiste’s Room from 9:00-9:45am
Police brutality is a major issue facing the great city of
Baltimore and everyone is affected in some way. Students
have been learning about police brutality and police reform
on a national and local scale. During Culminating Event, they
will be reading and discussing persuasive letters that they
have addressed to the Baltimore City Police Department. The
letters will detail steps students think will eliminate or lessen
police brutality in Baltimore.
The readings and discussions will take place in Mr. Albert's
room from 9:05-10:30. Feel free to come with questions for
our amazing scholars and join in on the groundbreaking
Science - Testing the efficiency of windmills as a source of
mechanical energy to pull up a cup full of paperclips from
Cultural Arts Team
1st Grade Soundsuit Parade - Main Hallway - Watch as first
grade artists rock their Soundsuits. Please be our audience and
line the first floor hallways and cheer everyone on! @
Humanities - Select students will share their Holocaust
Monologues. Ask your scholar to share theirs with you, and
examine the Documentation Panel outside the room to see how
we discovered the content used to create our historical fictions.
F&A - Healthy Competition-Grade level floor hockey tournament
in the GYM.
Math - Join us to ask questions about our math projects.
