Additional Costs to Budget for on the Smiling Soul India Retreat
1) The flights to India and insurance are for India are not included. Anticipate R8000 from South Africa
per person round-trip on an airline such as Emirates - depending on where you are travelling from.
All domestic travel, flights and transfers are included. We also provide a transfer to and from the airport if
you arrive on the day of the Retreat start and leave on the day the Retreat ends. Otherwise we can assist
in organising transfers which cost approx. R350.
Visas are Free for SA Citizens - and Euros 56 for European passport holders, and can be obtained online.
Vaccines generally not compulsory - but check with your travel agent - and if you did want booster shots probably around R800 for a series. are not compulsory except if you are coming in from a Yellow Fever
zone - in which case I recommend you ask your travel agent to check for you.
2) Only extra costs you will need to cover are the meals which are not included in the package (approx 10 12 as a guesstimate) and extra outings you may wish to undertake.
As India is extremely reasonable for food you can anticipate spending approx. R70 p/person for a good
meal (some places cheaper and others a bit more).
And of course if you enjoy drinks add a bit extra. A big Kingfisher Beer which two people can share is
about R30 for one round and a hard drink can be anything from R80 to much higher for overseas brands
and the local brands are pretty good.
Any other amounts you may need are if you want to do extra excursions. Eg. If you want to come in 2 days
earlier and go visit the Taj Mahal, then anticipate spending about R5000 for 2 people max (R1300 for a
good hotel in Delhi x 2 nights = R2600 plus travel to Agra and back by speed train, and entry to the Taj
Mahal monument… plus some extra cash for meals etc.)
If you’d like to do water-sports while we are in Goa - then anticipate about R600 per person for about 3
different kinds of activities.
The rest is all included as per brochure and no hidden costs!
