Christmas Nativity Musical and Carol Concert followed by
Jeopardy
All: Sing an opening preview with: O Christmas Tree
All: Get in position for play after the song.
Narrator: It is the 25th of December, also known as Christmas. Today is
the nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ according to the flesh. Pause God
sent the angel Gabriel to a town called Nazareth. Gabriel visited a
woman named Mary who was engaged to a man named Joseph.
Angel Gabriel: Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you. Do not be afraid,
Mary, because you have found favor with God. Behold, you will have a
baby boy. You shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called
Son of the Most High. He will rule over the house of Jacob forever. And
his kingdom will have no end.
Mary: Behold! I am the handmaiden of the Lord. Be it done unto me
according to thy word.
All: Sing the song: ANGELS WE HAVE HEARD ON HIGH
After the song, Mary will hand the mic over to Joseph and Angel Gabriel
will leave the stage into her backstage spot.
Narrator: Emperor Augustus ordered all the people to return to their
home towns. They had to record their names in the record books, so
they could be counted.
Courier bows and receives document. Deliver message, then go back.
Joseph reads the message while Narrator continues.
Joseph learned that he must leave Nazareth – and travel over 100 miles
to his home town, Bethlehem.

Joseph gets up from his chair, picks up his walking stick, helps Mary up
and they leave to Bethlehem while the Narrator continues.
Joseph and Mary began their long journey.
All except Mary, Joseph and the Donkey: Sing: O Little Town of Bethlehem
While everyone sings, Mary and Joseph will have walk over backstage,
then come back in a pace so when the song is almost over they arrive in
Bethlehem. When Mary and Joseph gets close to Bethlehem, the
innkeepers will get in their positions.
Narrator: When they reached Bethlehem at last, they learned many
travelers had arrived before them.
Joseph: Mary, you must be tired. Let’s stop at the inn so you can rest.
Joseph knocks on the door of the first inn 3 times.
Innkeeper 1: What you do you want? There is no room for you here.
Sorry.
Mary, Joseph and Donkey moves on to Inn 2 and Joseph knocks three
times.
Innkeeper 2: Do you need a room? Sorry, no room in here.
Mary, Joseph and Donkey goes to the last inn and Joseph knocks three
times.
Innkeeper 3: There is no room here. Sorry.
Joseph, Mary and Donkey starts to turn around but Innkeeper 3
interrupts them.
Innkeeper 3: Maybe you can stay in the stable. There is room there.

The innkeeper leads them to the stable. Mary and Joseph sits down by
the manger. The donkey sits in aside the manger in front of Mary. Then
all the innkeepers leave and head backstage.
Narrator: There, in the stable, Mary had her baby. He was a beautiful
boy. She wrapped him in cloth and laid him in the manger.
Mary pretends to wrap the baby in clothes and gives him a kiss, then lay
him in the manger.
All: Sing: What Child is this?
In between the beginning and the refrain, shepherds and the sheep
enters aside and in front of Mary and Joseph.
Narrator: That night, in the fields near Bethlehem, the shepherds were
guarding their sheep. All at once, an angel of the Lord came to them.
The Lord’s light shined all around them.
Angels enter in their positions by the Shepherds and sheep.
Angel Gabriel: Do not be afraid! I have good news. This very day, a Savior
was born for you. He is Christ the Lord.
Angel 2: You will know who he is, because you will find him wrapped in
cloth and lying in a bed of hay.
Narrator: Then the angels said:
Angels (all together): Immediately after the narrator: Glory to God in the
highest and peace to God’s people on earth.
All: Sing: Hark the Herald
After the song, all the angels will exit and head upstairs.
Narrator: When the angels returned to heaven, one of the shepherds
said:

Lead Shepherd: immediately after: Let’s go to Bethlehem to see what has
happened. Let’s see what the Lord has done.
Narrator: They left right away.
Shepherds and sheep starts travelling and heads over to Mary and
Joseph.
All: Sing: SILENT NIGHT
Sing this song while the shepherds travel, not after.
Narrator: When the shepherds arrived in Bethlehem, they found Mary
and Joseph, the infant lying in the manger, and the animals nearby.
During this line, the shepherds must pretend to be talking to Mary and
Joseph The shepherds told Joseph and Mary about the angels’ message.
They were amazed. And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in
her heart.
All: Sing: O COME, ALL YE FAITHFUL
Sing as a closing song. After the song, all actors bow and exit the stage
while the Narrator speaks the final words.
Narrator: Christmas is a gift from God. It’s message never changes, yet it
continues to change our hearts every day. We wish each one of you a
Merry Christmas, lived as God has planned. Thanks for watching our
Nativity Play and again, we wish you a Merry Christmas.
All actors enter the stage with the Narrator while he bows. Narrator
heads to the piano and gets ready to play the following song.
All: Sing: WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS

This song will close the play!!!

After all those songs, Jeopardy will start to play. We may not play
Jeopardy.
