Whether you are an old or new Christian, just curious, or even skeptical
about spiritual things, we are glad you’re here! We hope you find this
time to be beneficial, informative, and meaningful.
May the LORD bless you.

FOR REFLECTION
Spiritual disciplines must be accompanied by a deep saturation in the
gospel. The gospel changes the desires and cravings of the heart. The
whole purpose of the disciplines, in fact, is to give you opportunity to
think about, and meditate on, and move within the gospel. Spiritual
disciplines are like wires that connect us to the power of the gospel. They
have no power in themselves, but they connect us to the place from
which the power flows. They are gateways to the gospel, but not the
gospel itself. Say you don’t “feel” like reading the Bible; instead you “feel”
like watching TV. Is “making yourself ” read the Bible simply legalism? No.
By feeding your soul the Word of God, you are training your heart to love
it. As you read the Word of God, and encounter the God within it, your
love for Him and His Word will grow. If you choose, however, to watch TV,
your appetite for laziness and the lusts of the flesh are likely to grow
instead. Thus, the next day you will desire more TV and less of God, and if
you indulge the flesh again, on and on it will go in a downward cycle. As
you feed the flesh, your appetite for the flesh grows. As you feed the
Spirit, your appetite for Him grows.
~ J.D. Greear, Gospel

Q5: What else did God create?
God created all things by his powerful Word, and
all his creation was very good; everything
flourished under his loving rule.

Genesis 1:31
God saw all that he had made, and it was very
good.

New City
Catechism is a
joint adult and
children's
catechism,
adapted by
Timothy Keller
and Sam
Shammas from the
Reformation
catechisms. One
question and
answer for each
week of the year.
Adults and
children are asked
the same
questions. The
children’s answer
is shortened and
appears in color.

PRELUDE
Good morning! Please use this time of instrumental
music to settle in and prepare for worship.

CALL TO WORSHIP
Psalm 72:1-5
Give the king your justice, O God, and your righteousness
to the royal son! May he judge your people with
righteousness, and your poor with justice!
Let the mountains bear prosperity for the
people, and the hills, in righteousness! May
he defend the cause of the poor of the people,
give deliverance to the children of the needy,
and crush the oppressor! May they fear you while
the sun endures, and as long as the moon, throughout all
generations!

Amen

Please silence all
phones and
electronic devices
for the duration of
the worship
service.

Text in bold
italics is read
aloud together by
the entire
congregation.

Musical interludes
are included in our
service in order to
provide space for
reflection and
worship.

“Lectio Sacra”
means “sacred
reading.” It has
been the practice
of the church for
thousands of years
to have portions of
the Bible read
during worship
services. The
assumption behind
this practice is that
we are people who
need to be shaped
by all of God’s
word.

PRAYER & SONGS
CONFESSION

Confession
& Assurance

Confession of sin
happens within the
context of
relationship, both
with God and each
other. We confess
together, in
community, before
a gracious God who
has given us
himself. Confession
both acknowledges
our need for mercy
and celebrates its
abundance in
Christ.

Romans 3:20-23
For by works of the law no human being will be justified in
his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.
But now the righteousness of God has been
manifested apart from the law, although the
Law and the Prophets bear witness to it-the
righteousness of God through faith in Jesus
Christ for all who believe. For there is no
distinction: for all have sinned and fall short
of the glory of God…

If we confess our
sins, he is faithful
and just to forgive
us our sins and to
cleanse us from all
unrighteousness.
(1 John 1:9)

(Let us reflect on our need for a Savior)

ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Romans 3:24-26
…and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the
redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put
forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be
received by faith. This was to show God's
righteousness, because in his divine
forbearance he had passed over former sins.
It was to show his righteousness at the
present time, so that he might be just and
the justifier of the one who has faith in
Jesus.

SENDING OF CHILDREN

Repentance
& Faith

…as it is written:
“None is righteous,
no, not one…”

…for all have sinned
and fall short of the
glory of God…

For the wages of sin
is death, but the free
gift of God is eternal
life in Christ Jesus
our Lord…
if you confess with
your mouth that
Jesus is Lord and
believe in your
heart that God
raised him from the
dead, you will be
saved. For with the
heart one believes
and is justified, and
with the mouth one
confesses and is
saved… For
“everyone who calls
on the name of the
Lord will be saved.”

(Romans 3:10, 23;
6:23; 10:9-10, 13)

SCRIPTURE READING

Galatians 2:11-21

Communion

also called the Lord’s
Supper is the family
meal of Christians. We
invite all followers of
Jesus Christ who
acknowledge their sins
against God and their
neighbors and confess
their need for the
grace of Christ to
partake of this meal.

SERMON
Pastor Chris Cha, Kaleo Church

COMMUNION

Please also use this as
a time of reflection,
application, and
prayer.

1 Corinthians 11:23-26
For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to
you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was
betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he
broke it, and said, “This is my body which is for you. Do
this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he
took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new
covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in
remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread
and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he
comes.

SONGS OF RESPONSE

Baptism
If you are a Christian
and haven’t been
baptized, please talk
with our pastor or an
elder. We would be
honored to baptize
you.

Prayer of Belief
Lord Jesus, I admit
that I am weaker and
more sinful than I ever
before believed, but
through you I am
more loved and
accepted than I ever
dared hope. I thank
you for paying my
debt, bearing my
punishment on the
cross, and offering
forgiveness and new
life. Knowing that you
have been raised from
the dead, I turn from
my sins and receive
you as Savior and
Lord. Amen.

BLESSING & SENDING
Psalm 72:17-19
May his name endure forever, his fame continue as long
as the sun! May people be blessed in him, all nations call
him blessed! Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel,
who alone does wondrous things. Blessed be his glorious
name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his
glory! Amen and Amen!

Seeking
We hope this time has
been helpful to you as
you consider your
relationship with
Jesus Christ and with
his people, the church.
