Album information:
“Severance” is the third album by Vancouver post-rock solo artist Glaswegians. It will be released for free
on Bandcamp and all major streaming services on April 7, 2017. This album is self-recorded and features a huge
variety of instruments (listed on the next page). Unlike the lush, textured music on previous album “Cape Lazo”, this
album is darker and less predictable. “Severance” points towards a direction of anxiety and loneliness, in moments
like the frantic “Orwellian” intro or the bleak ambience in “Duress”. This album aims to be a constantly engaging
and energetic 64 minutes of intricate instrumental music.
Past album reviews: Cape Lazo (2015) Glaswegians (2014)
Songs
1 – Orwellian – 17:41
A diverse suite of anxious strings, quiet jazz, densely layered clarinets, and cathartic post-rock.
2 – Brobdingnag – 13:10
This upbeat track explores influences of folk music, African percussion, and modal jazz.
3 – Duress – 14:44
Moments of dreamy Reich-inspired minimalism creep towards darkness.
4 – Petrichor – 19:12
A positive resolution in contrast to the tracks before.
