Perhaps the most typical
and characteristic way
to discover the beauties
of Tuscany is to visit the region
on board of a car
from the sixties or seventies.
A slow panoramic drive, with
stops to visit castles and farms,
or take part in country
festivals and weekly markets.
All this can be done by renting
one of the cars
of the HR Tours fleet.

CLASSIC CAR RENTAL
HR TOURS’ CLASSIC CAR RENTAL SERVICE

The cars can be delivered to your hotel or
else picked up in our Florence or Rome
offices.
If you so request, the cars can be dropped
off to a place not that from which they
were picked up, the charge for this service
will be estimated by our staff.

All twenty-five cars of our fleet are
outfitted with satellite navigation (GPS) to
facilitate choosing the most scenic
countryside roads , in search of the “details”
of a region so beautiful and welcoming.
For a “slow driving” atmosphere in a
feeling of safety we have included in the
rates all the insurance and a 24-hour road
assistance service.
The most recent cars date from 1990, while
the older date the sixties. This means that
calm driving is required, and their use in line
with their age.

Suggested Routes
In the pages that follow we have set seven
itineraries lasting one day, starting and ending in
Florence.
Low-traffic roads with many points of interest,
such as castles, farms, artisans’ workshops,
typical restaurants and mediaeval towns that
deserve a visit.
With the aid of the navigation device (GPS) and
a good map, you will succeed in entering into the
intimacy of a territory that will surprise you by its
originality, attachment to tradition and care for
the environment.
Don’t forget that you will be driving an “old lady”
who are to be used with delicacy and care, in line
with the indications that our staff will give you on
delivery.
So please respect the speed limits and the traffic
laws, and when parking don’t forget to pay the
fee, where such is requested.
All the cars have a satellite system that records
itineraries, speeds and location of the car.
When parked, take with you all personal effects
and the car keys. Turn off the lights and the
radio.

Route n. 2

S.Gimignano
is 56 km south
of Florence. It
served as an
important relay
point for
pilgrims
travelling to or
from Rome on
the Via
Francigena.
The patrician
families who controlled the town built around 72 tower-houses as
symbols of their wealth and power.
It has retained its feudal atmosphere and appearance. The town also
has several masterpieces of 14th- and 15th-century Italian art.

Km. 144
about 3,20 hours
144 kilometers needs
attention and planning
of the stops, in order to
make best use of the
day.
We suggest to stop in
Castellina in Chianti.
Not to be missed too is
a visit to the medieval
village of Monteriggioni
and discover the town
of San Gimignano,
typical of the area…
The country of towers.
On coming back, if you
have time, visit the
Antinori wine cellar at
the “Bargino locality”
on the Via Cassia - SS2.

Tuscany

Monteriggioni is a medieval walled town, located on a
natural hillock, built by the Sienese in 1214–19 as a front
line in their wars against Florence. Circular walls, totalling a
length of about 570 metres (1,870 ft) follow the natural
contours of the hill. There are 14 towers and the houses,
in the Renaissance style face into the main piazza Roma.

Cellars Antinori are unique in Italy in its type: constructed with local
materials and with the maximum respect for the environment and of
the Tuscan landscape, they give a vast public of wine lovers the
opportunity to enter into direct contact with the production
philosophy of the family, offering the possibility of seeing, from the
vineyard to the bottle, how a wine is born, observing - step by step the phases of fermentation and aging. Also restaurant inside.
Via Cassia per Siena, 133 loc. Bargino, S.Casciano - Tel. 055 2359700.
