Skincare and the Importance of a Daily Regimen
Every day, the average person follows a fairly regimented routine for eating and sleeping. We tend to go to bed at the
same time and get the same amount of sleep from night to night. We get up at the same time, and either eat breakfast
or grab a cup of coffee on the way to work. We break for lunch at the same time every day. So if a daily regimen is so
important in terms of eating and sleeping, why do we not consider it in other areas of personal health and wellness?
Why do we not recognize the importance of a daily routine in our skincare?
The skin is the body's largest organ and a critical part of the immune system. It requires proper care if it is to function as
nature intended it to. The good folks at Poéthique, a brand-new natural skincare start-up, know how much care the skin
actually needs. This is why they encourage their customers to not only use their products but also to follow a daily
regimen for healthy skin.
According to the Poéthique website, a daily skincare regimen should include:
Deep Cleansing – The skin's pores are built-in traps for dirt and chemicals. Deep cleansing the skin is necessary
to remove all those things that cause premature aging, blemishes, and so on. Without deep cleansing, a person
is not really getting down to the root of skin issues.
Daily Exfoliation – Dirt and chemicals is just the first problem for skin. Under all that dirt and debris are dead
skin cells that are naturally held together due to the effects of keratinization. Now, you can get rid of all those
dead skin cells by way of abrasive exfoliation, but that is not good for the skin. Gentle exfoliation is much better
and part of a good skincare regimen.
Moisturization – After the skin has been cleansed and exfoliated, it is time to apply moisturizer. A good
moisturizing product does two things: it adds moisture to the skin directly and it locks in existing moisture to
prevent dehydration. Moisturization is absolutely essential to healthy skin.
The Benefits of Routine
The 'daily' portion of one's daily regimen cannot be underestimated in terms of its importance. The reality is that the
human body learns to adapt based on the decisions we make. This is why unhealthy eating habits can lead to weight
gain that progressively accelerates over time.
Where the skin is concerned, adopting a daily regimen allows the skin to adapt to what you are doing so that it can
perform at its best. Yet the skin is unable to adjust if no routine is in place. Think of it as similar to developing a sleep
regimen. If your body knows that bedtime is nine o'clock, for example, it will begin to wind down a little bit before so
that you are actually ready to go to sleep. Once your body is used to rising at the same time every morning, you will be
less tired when you wake.
Skincare is very similar. Once the skin is used to daily exfoliation, its natural healing properties kick in to begin producing
new skin cells immediately following exfoliation.
There are a lot of different things that attack the skin on a daily basis. From environmental exposure to stress, the skin is
under constant attack. When you add in the natural effects of aging, it is a full-time job for the skin to stay ahead of the
game. You can help by adopting a daily skincare regimen that includes all natural products such as Poéthique's Radiance
