with food. Eating may feel good in
the moment, but the feelings that
triggered the eating are still there.
And you often feel worse than you
did before because of the
unnecessary calories you

messing up and not having more
willpower. Compounding the
problem, you stop learning healthier
ways to deal with your emotions,
you have a harder and harder time
controlling your weight, and you feel
increasingly powerless over both
food and your feelings…”

Just breath! How often do you stop to
sense your breath throughout the
day? Breathing in the moment is a
great way to be aware of your
surroundings in the here and the
now. Sensing your breath sets
yourself in the present moment.
Air is our most basic food.
Throughout the day make sure you
are breathing deeply. When you
breathe in, sense your whole rib cage
inflating like a balloon. Then, when
you exhale do it slowly and imagine
that you are letting go of everything
that you do not want in your life in
that moment any more and see how it
melts down to earth. Earth will easily
transform all that stress into
relaxation, which you will then inhale
deeply and slowly.

Do this often during your day for at
least 1 minute. Especially before
starting to eat. When you inhale and
exhale count from 5 to 7 seconds,
and hold your breath in between for 5
to 7 seconds.

Talking about air, right before eating your most difficult
meal of the day (mine used to be dinner time due to
the stress I felt I had accumulated throughout my day)
talk about your feelings with your family, a good
friend, or spouse. If you live by yourself, call someone
who loves you.
By doing this, your emotional need for being heard
and understood will be satisfied. Any negative
emotions will be worn off. The act of being heard
creates an exchange of love energy that always
nourishes our hunger for attention and love.
• If you’re depressed or lonely, besides calling
someone, play with your dog or cat, or look at a
favorite photo or cherished moment.
• If you’re anxious, expend your nervous energy by
dancing to your favorite song, squeezing a stress ball,
or taking a brisk walk for at least 10 min.
• If you’re exhausted, take a power nap (10 to 20 min
will do) or simply close your eyes for a moment, treat
yourself with a hot cup of tea, take a bath, light some
scented candles, or wrap yourself in a warm blanket.
• If you’re bored, read a good book, watch a comedy
show, explore the outdoors, or turn to an activity you
enjoy (go out to dance, woodworking, playing the
guitar, shooting hoops, scrapbooking, etc.).

and activities, your body will need to
have a different intake of water
every day. Consult your physician to
know how much water your body
needs per day.
Drinking water 15 minutes before
starting to eat will help you satisfy
your body’s need for water first.
Many times we could get confused
thinking that we need more food
because we feel weak. When in fact
that weakness could be dehydration.
Water is our second most basic way
to nourish our bodies. After air,
water is most needed to sustain life.
So make sure to drink one full glass
of water before eating your meals.
