Urban Planning
Boonton Fire Station
Brief
Designing a 24/7 staffed Fire Station for the Boonton Fire Department with a dormitory, living facilities, offices and bay area.
Since it is located on a site which is a key intersection between a residential neighborhood, River Park and the Main Street
Business District, the building serves as a gateway and link between them and the overall city it serves.
Boonton Fire Station
Phase 2
The Phase 2 of the project involves translating the design of the firehouse into a 8 x 8 x 12 mock-up; this mock-up will be
constructed by the students with the help of the Masonry Contractors of New Jersey.
The design had to be cohesive and the translation of design elements had to be in terms of its materiality, concepts of design’s inception and its experiential elements. These design choices had to be explained via a powerpoint, animation of the
fire station and verbal presentation to a grand jury who would choose winners; my team was awarded Best Presentation.
Boonton Fire Station
Construction of the Mock-up
The mockup was constructed over one weekend with the use of mainly bricks, pre-fabricated concrete pieces and CMUs.
The Masonry Contractors of New Jersey were the ones to do the heavy lifting in the construction of the mock-up but we, the
students, contributed by helping out in cutting the bricks and CMUs, mixing mortar, laying the bricks and CMUs and guiding
the masons through the construction drawings.
SANKPAL HOUSE
Brief
This project was designed to be the biggest house for the developers on a plot of land which contains a huge residential
project involving 20 residential units; a fitness center that includes a gym, a pool, community social spaces and tennis
courts; parking spaces; and retail spaces near the information and check-in desk.

Urban Utopia
Brief
This aim of this project was to design a utopian arts community in the middle of the Arizona desert. Our design used the
resources available to create a vineyard where the permanent residents produced wine to economically support the temporary residents, the artists, that come here to produce art and for displays and exhibitions. The central point is the arena
which hosts a stadium as well as spaces that allow for art to be displayed in the open galleries.
The problem of excess heat gain is solved by introducing a skin around the buildings that undulates and produces pockets
of canopies and baffles that block the sun as well as give the project its cohesiveness.
