My First Mesmerizing Experience of
Modern life is becoming more hectic by the minute of every day so for removing this messy
24*7 hectic day, I suddenly planned for Pushkar tour which is 138 kms from Jaipur. I got in
the local bus for experiencing domestic passenger’s behavior. It took about 2.45 minutes to
reach Ajmer Bus stand. After reaching bus stand, my close friend Sudipto picked me from
bus stand. Sudipto’s elfield bike started for moving us to destination. Then we cut through
big mountains and after covering 14 kilometers distance we were in Pushkar. Enfields
pulled up at the outskirts of Pushkar Town. Great place to explore with local languages and
bohemian culture spirit.
We spent few hours to visit Brahma temple and Brahma Ghat. Besides the Pushkar ghat,
there were local shops and restaurants. We started maundering through streets and had
mouthwatering dishes in exclusive cafes. Now it was an exploring time to rummage in local
makeshifts , which are the real and unique jewels of Pushkar. This small town has annual
camel and Pushkar fair. In these fairs, both foreign and Indian artists get themselves to
perform. We discovered many Saadhus(saints) meandering in alleys and in local markets.
Some of them were having chit chat over their smart phone, playing and dancing blissfully.
It was a great fascination for both of us to find spirituality mixed with modernity.
There are kind of makeshifts like bag, bohemian ornaments, handcraft item, cloths, shoes
and many more. Handmade “Jootis” and bangle-makers shops were also another attraction
for us. This is very noticeable how bangle makers made Lakh bangle with deep
concentration. Sudipto purchased ornaments and lakh bangle for his wife after all wives
should be pleased in any way. He bought some nice piece of necklaces and some wooden
danglers with full of bohemian art. We found plenty of handicrafts items with inexpensive
product range. This market was a mish mash of chaotic cultures.
After almost emptying our pockets, we were on pathways of this town. Generally there were
white colored houses with small porch and veranda. These houses were situated in small
alleys. Pushkar is well known for foreigners as well as local tourists too. In Pushkar, both
kinds of tourists come including religious pilgrims and foreigner’s hippy. Some hippies stay
over there for some phase of time for enjoying their lives and live in mental stress less
environment. Now this was a general evening for me but for all others it was a night life. The
market, Ghats and other things were glowing all the way to hold my way. Sudipto told me
about some golden triangle tour as well in the way and I promised myself to plan a golden
triangle tour with Pushkar soon. It has taken all over day to observe colored and majestic
things of Pushkar but still many more alluring things were left for me. But this is a time no
one can hold this and I had to move to bus stand of Ajmer. By the time we were seated on
enfield. I decided that I will explore Pushkar’s night life very soon.
In the entire tour to Pushkar I had several experiences about the culture, religion, history,
traditions and other elements of the state. It was the first ever experience for me but it left
some mesmerizing memories. Hope you like my experience.
