Conservative Deputy Leader
Manifesto: May 2017

Foreword

Friends and fellow conservatives,
Reproducing the results of last election will be a challenge. We need to ensure activity is
maintained to take advantage of positive modifiers. We must also maintain good relations
with our government partners whilst extending an olive branch to the Liberal Democrats
and Labour party, who I believe are also opposed to another government comprising of the
RSP and their Green lackeys.
This manifesto will outline the policies that I believe would benefit the party and you, the
members. I will also provide a brief summation of my record and experience within the
party and simulation.
I first joined the party in July 2015. During my time as a member, I have been fortunate to
serve as both a party lord and MP for Surrey and Sussex. I was also the long-term Energy
and Climate Change spokesperson, being lucky enough to form part of an active shadow
cabinet and briefly secretary of state. I have also produced bills, motions and press pieces
giving me a good understanding of the legislative process and all that it involves.
In terms of ideology, I would describe myself as a conservative libertarian; believing in a
small state, the preservative of individual liberty and conservation of tradition. I see myself
as approachable and sympathetic to the concerns of members and have all the qualities
needed to make an effective deputy leader.
I’m the underdog, the outsider, but if you lend me your vote: I will bring experience,
integrity; a unique perspective and reform to party leadership.

Recruitment

1.1. Creation of a party handbook to benefit new and existing membersI will endeavour to produce a comprehensive guide to getting started in MHoC which will
be easily accessible from the party subreddit. This will include a FAQ section and outline the
legislative process.

1.2. 1922 committee discord channelAs has been proven in the past, a fully-fledged 1922 committee is unsustainable. However, I
believe an informal discord chat, void of leadership, would allow for internal scrutiny and
free discussion between backbenchers regarding internal matters.

1.3. Continuation of the buddy systemThe buddy system introduced some time ago has the potential to improve activity of new
members by ensuring they have someone to direct questions to. I will ensure the buddy
system continues to operate effectively.

1.4. Appointment of a new Recruitment OfficerA new position will be created, responsible for supporting new members and driving
recruitment. The party should further links with conservative parties across the model
world. A growth in party membership will only benefit the party.

Activity and Harmony
2.1. Foster good relations with all parties, to the left and to the rightI have managed to avoid clashing with other parties and their senior members; putting me
in a good position to improve links with parties such and the Liberal Democrats whom have
recently taken a liking to the official opposing. As a party, we would also benefit from a
friendship with the Classical Liberals as common ground is shared.

2.2. Promote free debatethe choice for change

Active debate between members should be encouraged where appropriate. Rather than
official policy being dictated by spokespeople, the chairman and leadership, I would
encourage the open debate of various issues to help form a sensible position as a party.
This would influence the manifesto during elections and ensure it accurately reflects the
base of membership.

2.3. Resuscitate the policy forumThe policy forum should be revived with the aim to increase the throughput of conservative
and government legislation/ motions. The forum should also host policy debate and straw
polls.

2.4. Encourage party cooperation when writing new billsIt is my belief that legislations benefits from having multiple authors and contributors each
holding a unique perspective. I will actively encourage the party working on legislation
together through policies 2.2 and 2.3.
