Media release from Cats Protection’s Friends of Axhayes Exeter
Adoption Centre

20th June 2017

Exeter Axhayes Adoption Centre Summer fundraising event at America Hall, Pinhoe,
Exeter on Saturday 1st July 2017.
The Friends of Axhayes are a group of volunteers who organise events and raise money for Exeter
Axhayes Cats Protection Adoption Centre.
This year’s summer fundraising event will be held at America Hall, De la Rue Way, Pinhoe, Exeter,
EX4 8PX on Saturday 1st July 2017. The doors open to the public at 11am and the event will end at
3pm and entrance is free, although donations (monetary or of cat food) will be welcome.
There will be many stalls including children’s face painting, bric-a-brac, new and used books, crafts
and more. This year we have the ever popular “wind machine” which is similar to the Crystal Maze
final game, albeit on a smaller scale, but none the less exciting and polular.
Money raised at this event will go to help local cats and kittens looking for new homes in the Exeter
and surrounding area.
The Axhayes Adoption Centre currently has around 140 cats awaiting a second chance in life. One
such cat is Spreyton – An 8 year old female domestic shorthaired black cat. Spreyton is a sweet
cat who lost her way home. We are sure she has had a home and has just strayed slightly too far.
Being so hard to locate previous owners she is now looking for a new home where she can settle
in and make her own. We have no history of what she is like with other animals or children but with
good slow introductions she may be suitable with any type of household. A little shy and
bewildered about being in a strange environment she will need a little encouragement to come out
of her shell but she is a sweet gentle natured girl once you get to know her.
For further information about the event, or to adopt a cat, please call Exeter Axhayes Adoption
Centre on 01395 232377 (www.axhayes.cats.org.uk).

For further information, please contact Mark Mcgee on 01395 232 377 or
