God's View on Order
How do you believe God feels about order and to what extend? How important might this be to
1 Corinthians 13:33 says, "God is not a God of disorder or confusion but of peace.
1 Corinthians 14:40 says, "Be sure that everything is done properly and in order."
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 says, "There is a season for everything, and a time for every matter; a time to
plant and a time to harvest; a time to kill and a time to heal; a time to break down and a time
to build up; a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance; a time to
cast away stones and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace and a time to refrain
What do these scriptures tell us about how God is?
They tell us that God expects things to be orderly.
Do you think God cares how small the matter is?
Consider Luke 16:10... Jesus said, "The one who is faithful in a very little thing is also faithful
in much and he who is unrighteous in a very little thing is also unrighteous in much."
Jesus shows us that, to Him, the little counts as much as the big. Concerning God Himself,
Jesus said, "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground
outside your Father's care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered." Matthew
How would you apply this to your life? For instance, to what extent might God care if you did
sloppy work or let your room or home be sloppy, or if you even drove carelessly?
If you are "faithful" to be careful and orderly in one matter, even small matters, you will be
faithful to be careful and orderly in other matters, especially the more important matters.
Look at your life. Where are you orderly or careless? What steps can you take to improve here?
Father God, thank You for this lesson from Your Word. We now recognize that You are a God
of order and You apply that to the smallest of things. In the name of Jesus, bring conviction to
our hearts about those areas where we need to improve being more orderly and help us make
the necessary changes. Remind us often of what we learned today. Thank You Father!
