This weekend saw the gourmands of Manchester come out in full force
for our soft launch – and what a crowd! This city definitely knows how to
have a good time…
With press, local businesses, friends, family and foodies galore invited, it
was time to throw open our windows, get the disco ball spinning, and for
Ed Baines and the team to fire up the shiny hobs and get cooking! Before

long the scent of golden-crisping rotisserie chicken was wafting down
Bridge Street, and the oysters were being shucked at an unprecedented
So what does Manchester like to eat? There was definitely a demand for
lobster and chips, proving shellfish is always a success. Our Fish Pie –
unique to the new menu - was very popular, and more than a few guests
were seen savouring our bestselling Spaghettini Marinara. On Sunday
the roasts were flying out of the kitchen – both succulent chicken and
thick slabs of rare beef, served with fluffy Yorkies and swimming in
glossy gravy. And the city proved they’ve got style – and aren’t afraid to
make an impression – as we saw a fabulous amount of our towering
platters of Fruits de Mer delight diners. Plus naturally we got through
more than a few bottles of Champagne – well, the weekend was all about
raising a toast to our new home!
We had such a wonderful reception from everyone, and were absolutely
thrilled that so many of you took to social media to share your
experiences. Karen Dominiak Tweeted ‘fantastic night, amazing food as
always, excellent service & perfect vibe! The R&A we know & love with a
Manchester twist!’ while we Philip Murphy used his 160 characters to
say ‘Fantastic lunch @randallaubinMCR yesterday. Amazing food, great
staff and cool vibe – it’s got it all. Welcome to Manchester. #Success’.
And the Facebook reviews had us blushing with pride too, as Martha
Moore wrote ‘Incredible food in gorgeous surroundings. We felt so
looked after by Louis & the team and already cannot wait to come back.
Thank you so much for a wonderful evening - R&A is just the injection of
glamour that Manchester has been crying out for! Xx’, while we loved

the London restaurant, with its own northern identity!’
So there we have it – our soft launch has been completed! Thanks for
bearing with us Manchester – we hope you agree it was worth the wait.
We certainly couldn’t be happier with our new home, and so raise one
more glass – to such a vibrant and fabulous city that has welcomed us
with open arms.

A fine specimen of Homarus Gammarus
(European lobster). Caught in lobster pots
around the British Isles, it's a little smaller in
mass than the American lobster, but we much
prefer to use local produce and uphold our
commitment to traceability and sustainability. Our
lobsters will never arrive frozen to Randall &
Aubin - they are fresh, fresh, fresh and arrive at
the restaurant live. Served with lashings of garlic
butter and a hefty squeeze of lemon, a meal of
lobster and frites is mouthwateringly divine.
