THE MONTHLY NEWSLETTER OF THE GOLD COAST TREASURE CLUB, INC.
VOLUME 35 NUMBER 2

FEBRUARY 2010

THE NEXT MEETING WILL BE 7:30 P.M. FEBRUARY 11
AT THE WEST PALM BEACH GARDEN CLUB IN DREHER PARK
IN WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA

OUR CODE OF ETHICS: HAVE PERMISSION AND DO NO HARM

FEBRUARY 2010 MEETING
The board of directors is committed to offering a
program on CPR; however we’ve had some cancellations
along the way. Hopefully the third time will be a charm!
Come to our February 11th meeting for a life saving
presentation. Val Wilson is a Certified Red Cross
instructor who teaches classes in Wilderness First Aid
Basics, CPR/AED, Professional Rescuer, Lifeguard,
Water Safety Today, and Small Craft Safety (Canoeing
and Kayak). She is a private contractor for the City of
West Palm Beach Environmental Programs and serves as
Health & Safety Chair of the Boy Scouts of America Gulf Stream Council and is Trade Winds District Eagle
Chair. She is active in local Girls Scouts training and a
Master Naturalist UF - Wetlands, not to mention FWC –
BOW Instructor for Canoeing, Kayaking and Wilderness
First Aid. When planning or preparing for any outing in
remote areas, Val believes it is extremely important to be
trained for emergency response. She will discuss the
basics of CPR, answer questions, and share information
about how we can become certified to keep others from
becoming a statistic. Val’s father exposed her to detecting
when she was 10 and she continues the hobby today,
along with rock hounding and other outdoor pursuits.
Don’t forget to bring ALL your finds to display on the
Tall Tales Table and to enter items into the monthly Best
Finds Contest. Bring your Platinum! (See note to right.)
Thanks in advance to February’s Mystery Prize
volunteer, Radina Malchev, who will do her best to try to
stump us and to Gary and Heather McNew who have
volunteered to provide the refreshments.
