GOOD WILL AMBASSADORS PERFORMING
RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS
The GCTC recognizes members who provide selfless
service to our community. The first time a member returns
an item, that individual receives a metal detecting pin
(handcrafted by Steve Hoskins) to wear on his or her hat, in
addition to a certificate of appreciation. Future returns are
recognized by additional certificates. Kudos to all club
members who go out of their way to return items to their
rightful owners. The actions of each of our “Ambassadors
of Good Will” enhance the public’s perception of our hobby!
Way to go, gang! You make us PROUD!

REPEAT AMBASSADORS

AMERICAN DIGGER MAGAZINE
“Dear members of the Gold Coast Treasure Club:
American Digger, created for detectorists and collectors,
has been in publication for almost seven years. Each issue
contains illustrated articles on the recovery of a wide variety
of excavated items. These include, just in part, military
relics, coins, fossils, antique bottles, and Native American
artifacts. If it can be dug from the ground or recovered
from the water, we like to write about it. I've attached a link
to American Digger's website, which provides more
detailed information on this bi-monthly publication.
Also, please let your members know that American
Digger is always interested in receiving story submissions
concerning metal detecting adventures.
Thank you very much for your time, and happy hunting.”
Bob Roach www.americandigger.com
A complimentary copy of the magazine was sent to the club.
It is available for viewing at the club meetings along with
subscription forms.

Congratulations to Tom Dankowski

Paul Hamlin
Returned Watch

Jim Sharp
Returned 3 Rings

Paul Hamlin – Returned an 18K diver’s watch that was
lost in the water. This was the second different dive watch
that this individual had lost. A tip from Paul – never wear a
watch in the water that has a Velcro band!
Jim Sharp – Returned a wedding band on August 22 to
Maralee Gardner who had lost her ring on the beach.
He also returned a wedding ring and engagement ring on
September 4 to Caryn Slaysky.

A popular speaker at various metal detecting clubs and
events has a new addition to the family. Tom and wife May
welcome their second child, Maylyn.
Tom has a vast wealth of knowledge in all areas of
metal detecting, especially when it comes to instruction on
how to use your machine. His latest DVD, “Metal
Detecting, Real World Techniques, Inland Coin and Relic
Hunting,” is available for purchase.
Check out his website for valuable information:

It has been too many years since we’ve had Tom as a
speaker. Hopefully the club can persuade him to free up
some time from his busy schedule in 2011.

FOREIGN COINS

As of October

THANK YOU, GENEROUS DONORS!
The club thanks Wayne Stephens for his donation of a
metal detector bag, Jim Sharp for his donation of a prize
used in the Halloween Costume Contest, and Les Batts for
donating items to be used for future door prizes and club
hunt prizes.

DONATIONS ARE ALWAYS APPRECIATED!

Our club, along with the South Florida Treasure Club,
continues to collect foreign coins to donate towards a
summer camp for handicapped children. This is a yearround project that brings joy to children as they learn how
to detect, despite their challenges. If you have coins to
donate, please see Linda Bennett, who will make sure your
donation goes to the right place. YOU can be a hero to a
child in need!
