highlights of the year, so we hope every member will

January 2011 and December 2011 and while you were a
member of the GCTC.
Changes have been made. Categories from previous
years have been abolished in order to continue silver
prizes. Also, the American coin winner will not be based
on the oldest coin, but by voting by club members for the
Categories will be: Best Platinum Jewelry; Best Gold;
Best Gold with Stones; Best Silver; Best Costume
Jewelry; Most Unusual; and Best American Coin.
Winners of the 7 major categories will each receive a
silver half-dollar and a certificate. Each member is
allowed one entry per category. Winners are decided by
the same voting system that we use for the Monthly Best

JIM WARNKE MEMORIAL HUNT/ PICNIC
Jim Warnke died in 2004 at the age of 80. He had been a
member for most of the existence of the club and served in
every office. The longest position held was newsletter
editor for which he wrote for 12 years.
This annual hunt and picnic will be held on Saturday
February 25 at Ocean Cay Park in Juno Beach. Planted
items will be American coins more than 50-years-old. A
hunt orientation meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. A picnic will
follow the hunt and awarding of prizes. The GCTC will
provide hot dogs, buns, condiments, beverages, and all
eating and drinking accessories. Members are encouraged
to bring a side dish. Also, don’t forget to bring a chair,
table, and other items that make a picnic enjoyable. The
entry fee for the hunt is $5 per metal detector. Sign up at
the February club meeting or RSVP by February 22 to
Linda Bennett (561-290-5112) with the number in your
party. This will allow the club to provide enough coins
and food. Only current members may participate, so, if
you haven’t renewed, NOW IS THE TIME! Sorry, NO
coils over 12” or PI detectors allowed! Also,
headphones are required! This is a standing club policy
for planted hunts!
