JULY MEETING
AUGUST CLUB HUNT
July and August meetings follow the rules of the lazy hot
days of summer - being spent in air conditioning and
enjoying cold food, casual meetings and plenty of time for
socialization with fellow club members. Our round robin
table meeting will focus on our fantastic library. Books are
available for checkout. Books have been added this past few
months - donations from the estate of Tom McGrath in
addition to donations from Linda Bennett and Andy Sabisch.
Refreshments will be focused on keeping cool. Jan
Smirnow will be responsible for using her skills to select ripe
sweet and cold watermelons to be enjoyed during break time.
Thanks in advance to Amy Hamedl for volunteering to stump
us with an unusual “Mystery Item.”
Ben Smith will be hosting a planted hunt with prizes on
Saturday, August 18. Since the hunt field will be under the
bridge at Phil Foster Park - there will be plenty of shade.
More details will be in the August newsletter.

LINDA BENNETT
The Central Florida Metal Detecting Club conducted a
series of seeded hunts for the campers at Easter Seals Camp
Challenge every Wednesday in June and the first Wednesday
in July. Hunts were conducted using only Garrett Ace 150’s
or Ace 250’s. Kellyco provided sponsorship for these hunts.
These hunts required a lot of commitment from their
membership. The GCTC provided costume jewelry, toy
metal cars and foreign coins as objects that were buried.
WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR DETECTING FINDS
New type of floor using pennies
Bottle Cap Back Splash
Also dug up was a film canister of pennies that one of our
club members, Jim Warnke, had buried in November 2001 at
one of the shared weekend camping trips. Jim, a known
practical joker, had planted more than one film canister.
Guess all who were not found.
