All Public Policy Begins At The Same Place – The Ballot Box.
Over the past several months, I’ve engaged in wide ranging and interesting discussions with dozens of friends and
members of Michigan’s LGBTQ community who are active in politics. There is a universal recognition of the need for a
greater LGBTQ presence in election campaigns in which we aggressively support our friends and just as aggressively
oppose our enemies. Harvey’s Fund is inspired by LGBTQ activist and martyr Harvey Milk and is patterned after the
successful women’s PAC, Emily’s List.
Harvey’s Fund Is A Nonpartisan Member Of The Trump Resistance Coalition
Policies directly related to the LGBTQ community such as adding civil rights protections for gender identity and sexual
orientation to the State Constitution or the Elliott-Larson Civil Rights Act are paramount. But our advocacy does not
stop there. LGBTQ rights are human rights. Human rights include a livable minimum wage, access to quality public
schools, protections for our environment among other important issues. The LGBTQ community is not politically
homogeneous. Harvey’s Fund is a home for Political Progressives. We will be a full-throated part of the coalition
resisting the policies of Donald Trump and his Cabinet. These people repeatedly proven themselves to be no friend of our
community.
