Disaster WIC Services for Out-of-State Evacuees
Hurricanes Irma and Harvey evacuees eligible for expedited WIC services
People who have evacuated from disaster-related area of Louisiana and other states because of
Hurricanes Harvey and Irma may be eligible for WIC services in Louisiana.
Effective September 12, 2017, evacuees who need WIC services will have their applications fasttracked at any Louisiana WIC clinic. WIC clinic locations can be found by the clicking the link:

Verification of WIC Certification
Louisiana WIC will work with the out-of-state applicant and their home state’s WIC program to
obtain the necessary paperwork, Verification of Certification. For participants who need infant
formula for their children, the name of the formula will be requested with the Verification of

the evacuee’s home state.
Food Benefit Allowance*
These WIC benefits for evacuees are good for 30 days.
*For special formula benefits, a two-week supply may be authorized.
Documentation of Income, Residency and Identification
When applying for WIC services, each family, including for all applicants, must provide proof of
income, residency and identification.
However, the income documentation requirement does not apply to an evacuee for whom the
necessary documentation is not available for people who are:
A homeless woman or child;
Anyone else for whom it creates an unreasonable burden to provide the income documentation (as
allowed by federal regulations).
Standard Formula Issuance
Applicants/Participants evacuating from another state who are on standard infant formula will be
prescribed the current Louisiana contract standard formula equivalent.
