Bottom Line
The JBL GO is a beautifully designed tiny yet “loud” wireless bluetooth speaker with a satisfactory performance
and efficient portability. The speaker however misses the sub-bass sounds but the highs and mids balance
makes it up and also makes it suitable for a wide range of musical genres. If you are looking for a small wireless
portable speaker that is light weight, fits in your palm, looks attractive, has a shockingly loud sound and fits
perfectly in your budget then it will surely make you happy.

Review
The bluetooth technology has opened doors for the audio industry with a new purpose for headphones and
speakers. Everybody likes music and owns an audio device. Whether you like to carry around your speaker and
party on the go or need a good replacement for your laptop speakers; JBL GO lets you do incredible things. This
little monster was launched in Feb 2015 and is reigning the “mini” wireless bluetooth speaker industry since
then. JBL by Harman is a trusted brand with over 10 million audio products sold worldwide has won multiple
awards over the course including the Red Dot Design Award and iF Design Award for the JBL GO design. Lets
dig deeper in the review and see what it has to offer.

JBL GO

There are many low budget wireless bluetooth speakers out there in the market but some of them aren’t either
loud enough or small enough. The JBL Go is rectangular in shape and is so small and portable that it can fit in
your palm (the diagonal length is 4.2 inches) and weights 130 g. Regardless of its weight the quality feels rough
and tough, and will not wear out anytime soon. The speaker packaging box comes with the JBL GO itself, 1
micro USB cabe for charging, 1 quick start guide and 1 safety sheet. It is available in colour black, red, blue,
grey, teal, pink, yellow and classic JBL orange.

3/6

The built quality and design of the speaker is absolutely stunning and is bound to seek attention of people
around you. The outer layer comes with a rubberised coating which works as an excellent grip. The front side of
the speaker has a metallic grill with JBL logo on both front and back side. The left edge has a lanyard slot so you
can just strap it and tote. The right edge on the other hand has a 3.5 mm aux input, a micro USB port for
charging and a pinhole (mic with noise and echo cancellation).
The top surface comes with various control keys such as volume control keys, power on/off key, bluetooth
pairing key, and a phone key so you can receive or drop calls and converse on the speaker itself. Also, there is
an LED indicator behind the grill, right on top of the JBL logo.

The wireless speaker is powered by a 600 mAh battery
which has upto 5 hours of runtime, as the manufacturer
claims. The JBL GO comes with a single 40 mm driver with
a power output of 3 Watt. All that is fine but there is this one
shortcoming that the frequency response range of these
bluetooth speakers is 180 Hz to 20 kHz.
The human hearing frequency range is 20 Hz (lowest) to 20
kHz (highest). That means the speaker misses the lower
frequency sounds in the range between 20 Hz to 180 Hz.
About the sound quality, JBL GO is as loud as it could get for
its tiny size. It is loud enough to fill a room and outdoor
performance is also stunning. The audio sounds clear and
crispy, unless the volume is at max. The audio starts
distorting a tad bit at high volumes. Since the speaker misses lower frequencies the bass of the speaker is not
4/6

up to par and some bassheads might get a little
disappointed. Its mids and treble balance is just incredible
and gives the perfect vibe when listening to multi instrument
songs. It catches all the instrument layers proficiently.
