CAMPAIGN UPDATE: Mental
Health Awareness Week 9-15
October
What’s happening?
Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW) 2017 runs 9–15 October with the theme of “Nature is Key’.
Our goal is to use the attention mental health will receive in traditional and social media to build
brand familiarity around 1737, need to talk?.

Here’s what we’re doing:

Social Media:
• The 1737, need to talk? Facebook page will be posting a series of ‘street style’ videos
throughout the week. These videos were filmed around the country and asked people “How
do you connect with nature?” to tie into this year’s MHAW theme.
• Facebook Frames for profile pictures will be available for anyone to use to support 1737,
need to talk? and MHAW. There’s more info on how you can update your profile picture
below.

What will the ads/ campaign look like?

The ‘street style’ videos are between 60-90 seconds long and feature people talking about
how the connect with nature.

Facebook Frames for profiles pictures are used as a way for ‘followers’ to support a cause. It
puts a ‘frame’ around the user’s picture for one week. When a user makes this change, an
independent post is pushed out to their friends/followers. When done in large groups it gains
a bit of attention and we could see some increased on our Facebook page as a result.

Steps to add Facebook frame:

Log in to your Facebook profile and go to your Profile.
Hover your mouse over your profile picture to get the Update Profile Picture option. You need
to click on that option. Now, you should find an option called Add Frame.
Search for 1737 and you’ll see it as an option (available Oct 16 at 12:01 am)

Street Posters:
A series of four posters will be spread nation-wide displayed in frames on streets and in retail.

What is the call to action?

There is no direct call to action for the 1737, need to talk? campaign. Our goal is to

Other happenings:
• 1737 Champions: The communications team has been e-mailing ‘community mental
health champions’ (i.e social media influencers who talk about mental health and
media personalities) to ask them to become ‘1737 Champions’ and create their own
content for MHAW. The email contains a kit with FAQs and 1737 logos to use how
they wish.
• The ‘small steps’ Depression.org TV commercials will be aired for the week.
