Welcome to the second edition of The Dreamcast
Junkyard 100% Unofficial Ultimate Collectors Guide.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the first edition
enraged the very gods we wished to appease but we
repented, made a few sacrifices and have returned.
In this edition you will find slightly updated lists and
some minor bugs have been ironed out. The one
thing we wish to make clear though, is that this book
is in no way affiliated with Sega and is 100%
unofficial - made by the fans of the Dreamcast, for
fans of the Dreamcast.
The Dreamcast is a system that lived in the limelight
for what felt like little more than the blink of an eye.
Initially, the flame burned bright, but it faded almost
as quickly once the PlayStation 2 appeared on the
horizon, like the world-conquering leviathan that it
was. Within months of Sony's console entering the
fray, Sega pulled the plug and the Dreamcast was no
more. This didn't prevent the system playing host to
a whole range of fantastic titles though, and with this
guide we hope to aid the ever-resiliant Dreamcast
community when it comes to seeking out these
hidden gems. I must give kudos to the author, Mike
Phelan for his incredible work compiling this list but
ultimately I hope this guidebook gives readers an
impression of the magnificent hidden library that
awaits. If you own this book your Dreamcast is in for
one hell of a ride, and we're overjoyed that you've
bought the ticket.

Collectors Guide Introduction

Key to the Checklist
When compiling this list, I wanted to strike a balance between
accessibility and detail. Listing games Publishers, Developers,
release dates etc. have therefore not been included, as these
don't directly effect the collecting process. Instead, I've kept it
as simple as possible – The title of each release, the Region it
was released in, the type of Release it is, the serial code of the
game, any interesting details about the release, and a basic
check for rarity and expense. I'll take a moment to go through
these:
Title:
In Alphabetical order of the particular release,
with 'The' not being included in the ordering.

It's a problem every collector of Video games will know – how
do I keep track of my collection? In the Internet age, there's a
plethora of sites available with downloadable 'Complete lists',
but often they contradict each other, miss out certain titles, or
focus on one region or another. It was a problem I faced when
starting on the journey of Dreamcast collecting. Whilst there's
plenty of sites out there offering their own lists, the
discrepancies between some of them bothered me. Indeed, it
bothered me enough to set out to compile my own. The
following 50 odd pages are the results of that. I set out with a
goal to list every game released, taking information from
wherever I could find it. It isn't the easiest thing to do at times
– I found numerous non-existent titles on some lists, wrong
information on others, and with the DC still supporting such a
vibrant scene of new releases, there were at least 8 new titles
released whilst I was going through this. But persistence has
paid off, and the fruits of a 5 year long labour of love has
resulted in what I personally believe is as thorough and
complete a list as there is available for Sega's last beloved
console.
The guide is divided into distinct sections, of more or less use
depending on your own interest in collecting.
The Complete DC Release List lists every single DC game,
including all variations. This is the bulk of the guide; the master
list from which everything else is based on.
The Single Game Checklist doesn't bother itself with the
multitude of PAL cover variations or Japanese Limited editions,
and instead simply lists every released DC game, and which
region it was released in.
There then follows 4 sections, each detailing one of the
'Regions' of DC gaming and sub-divided to give more info for
the complete collectors.
The first is for Unlicensed games; the titles released without
Sega's license, but which received physical, available to
purchase releases. There are two separate lists here: A list of
upcoming titles set for release soon, and one listing all currently
released unlicensed titles.
The North American section then follows, containing just the
one list, which gives a complete breakdown of all North
American releases (and includes the Brazilian Tec-toy
distributed titles too).
The Japanese section details 3 lists; A complete release list, A
guide to Accessibility for non-Japanese speakers and a list of all
Japanese releases by code – useful for when a game doesn't
have any English naming on it.
Finally, the PAL section closes things off with 3 more lists; a
complete list, a White Label Promo disc list and a guide to
European Regional differences.

Region:
Dreamcast Games, like all Video gaming, can
be divided into Japanese (NTSC-J), North American (NTSC-U)
and European (PAL) regions. For the guide, I have stuck to
recognisable 2 letter abbreviations for these: JP for Japanese,
NA for North American (which includes Brazilian releases) and
EU for European (which of course also includes non-European
territories as well, such as Australia). Due to the Dreamcasts
strong unlicensed release scene, I've also included a fourth
code – WW for 'Worldwide' releases, as these releases are
Region free.
Type:
There are several types of releases for DC
games, and to explain them best, it's easier to go through them
by region.
In North America, there are 5 separate types:
US
This indicates a standard Jewel case US release.
US-L This indicates any non-standard US release, boxed
releases and Limited editions. (i.e. the Alien Front Online Box)
USvar This indicates any US variants. This includes any 'Not
for Sale' versions, general cover variants and the like.
BRA
This indicates the releases in Brazil by Sega's long term
South American partner, Tec-Toy. These releases are quite
distinguishable as they mix up the Japanese and US coverstandards, with the Quarter-circle of the Japanese cover moving
down to the bottom Left whilst usually sticking with the US
cover art.
US-AS These are the US Sega All Stars releases, the budget
label for Dreamcast games in North America. There were less
than 20 of these, a sad indication of the DC's curtailed life.

For Japan, there's a further 4 separate types:
JPN
This is the code for the standard Japanese release. For
the most part these will be standard Japanese Jewel case
releases.
JPN-L This is the code for the much-collected Limited editions
that are somewhat prevalent in the Japanese release list. Most
of these will be 'special' releases of standard games, ranging
from First-Print editions with special full-colour discs, to
elaborate box sets with lot's of very Nippon-centric extras.
One of the reasons I wanted to put this guide together in
These will all have a description detailing their contents. Some
physical form, was to allow it to act as a hold-in-your-hand
Games have been listed as only having a 'Limited Edition'
checklist, and so for many of the lists here, there is a check-box release, usually these are more elaborate releases which have
present to allow you to keep track of which games are in your no standard, Jewel case release.
collection.
JPN-D Sega re-released several of the most popular Japanese
releases under their 'Dorikore' label ('Dreamcast Collection').
Future versions of this guide will hopefully include the currently The first 6 of these are easily distinguishable, as
in-progress Hardware, Accessory and Non-Game release lists.
Sega went to the trouble of giving them new cover
art – a distinctive white cover with an Orange
horizontal stripe and the original cover art in
reduced size in the centre, as well as 'Dreamcast

2

Collection' printed clearly at the top. However, after these initial
6, the collecting waters become murkier. Rather than reprint
cover art, these later releases were identical to their original
versions, with the addition of the Dorikore 'stamp' (seen above)
in sticker form on the wrap. This presents a problem for
collectors. To be certain a game is a Dorikore release, chances
are you will need a sealed version of the game, as there literally
is no other indication. Sealed game collectors will have no issue
with this, but for those who want to play their games, choosing
to go for the Dorikore releases will be a personal choice of
whether they want these copies simply for their stickers.
David, who was massively helpful in updating this guide, added
the following info with regards to the Dorikore titles:
“Dorikore initially was a way to liquidate stock Sega had
remaining. Dorikore releases came about when Sega of Japan
asked Dreamcast fans to vote on what titles they’d like to see
re-issued from a list that was provided on the Sega.co.jp
homepage.
Although a lot of the Dorikore releases were just excess stock
Sega did reprint games titles like Napple Tale, Segagaga.
Also the Dorikore collection had titles like Interlude that had
new cover art and Castle Fantasia Seima Taisen, which the
Dorikore release, is the only version of this title to receive a
spine card.
Even re-badged Dorikore releases differ from the standard
versions in three main ways. The front of the jewelcase has the
Dorikore logo and depending on the title a sticker with
information about the Internet severs being down now.
The Dorikore catalog number is different as barcode
information was updated in a new sticker that went over the
existing barcode and changed the catalog number to have a -1
prefix.
This doesn’t apply to the first six Dorikore releases as these
had different cover art and all new catalog numbers.”
JPN-O This type includes all 'Other' types of Japanese
releases. This includes some Book releases (Yu Suzuki Game
Works Vol. 1) as well as anything else which doesn't fit into the
other types.
One thing not included in this guide, is the many 'Sample'
versions of Japanese releases. These are indicated by a blue
oval shaped sticker with 'SAMPLE' printed on it. The fact is that
info on these releases is incredibly hard to come by, and
chances are every Japanese Sega release may have had a
sample version out there. For this reason, I haven't included
them in the list.
For European/PAL releases, things are slightly different. There
are 5 distinct types of release, 4 of which are indicated with
simple codes in the same manner as the US and Japanese
releases. The 5th contains all of the regional variants that PAL
releases are known for. Rather than listing them all as PAL, I
wanted to list each one by the European countries they were
released in. Originally, that meant listing them by their 2 digit
code (all PAL releases have distinctive 2 digits at the end of the
serial codes printed at the bottom of the spines, meant to
indicate which countries these were released in, i.e. a -50 code
would mean 'European Wide'), but I found this was not entirely
accurate and also not overly helpful. So instead, I've indicated
on every release which languages are present on the back
covers. Sometimes these are indicated with National flags,
other times it's just a case of knowing which language the blurb
is written in. The list of nation codes I've used is below. Note:
on many of these releases, other Languages are included in-

game or in the Instructions, so just because a game doesn't
have a particular language listed doesn't necessarily mean it's
not supported. Of course, occasionally, the language of the
blurb doesn't mean that language is included in the game
anyway, with English sometimes being the only available
language! For the purposes of this guide, however, we shall
look at the Indicated languages via the back covers.
So first, the 4 'other' types:
EWLP
This indicates that this disc is a 'European
White Label Promo' disc. It's a slightly awkward term, but for
those who don't know, these are pressed GD-ROM discs
distinctive by being White in colour. These discs were usually
sent to reviewers or for other promotional use, perhaps in
Retail, and feature no cover art or instructions, instead coming
in simple clear cases (there are some exceptions, as Acclaim in
particular liked to put their White Labels into clamshell plastic
cases, and a few other White labels saw basic White Cover art),
but are usually full versions of the games (with some prominent
exceptions – see listing for details). Much collected by some,
there is a separate listing for these games included here, but
info for them is still included in the main guide, including the
disc codes. Although these aren't technically 'Retail releases',
their desirability amongst some collectors and relative ease of
purchase is enough for me to include them in the main guide.
Huge kudos must go to Executter and the folks at SegaDC.com, as much of the work that has gone into the details of
White label releases was carried out by them, and without their
work, I'd know far less about the discs.
Ebc
Originally created by me for the Bundle copy of
Dead or Alive 2 that I seemed to have several copies of, EBC
now also includes any other Bundle copies and other
Promotional copies of games. These Promotional copies are
usually indicated by stickers on the front of the game as well as
on the disc itself. My listing for these games is based on the
work done, again, by Sega-DC.com, and their may be many,
many more out there. Also it must be noted that whilst I
include a separate 'EBC' version for games, the actual game
cases themselves will be indicative of the region they were
released in – so for instance, their may be separate German
and English releases for a game, both of which could possibly
have a 'Promotional use' version. However, information on the
exact numbers of these may never be known, so for now, a
single entry for any game which has had a Promotional copy
found is all that is included in this list.
Evar
These are any 'Variant' releases of European
games, that for whatever reason don't fit into the other
categories listed. Most cover variants of PAL games can be
distinguished by different codes, so are not listed by this type.
Ebox
These are the few PAL releases which saw
release in larger boxes, usually with an accessory.
For the standard releases, the Languages on the games covers
(as explained above) are:
D
Dutch Language (Netherlands and Belgian
releases)
E
English Language (UK and Ireland, Australia
and New Zealand, as well as other parts of Europe)
F
French Language (France and other French
speaking parts of Europe)
G
German Language (Germany and Austria and
other German speaking parts of Europe)
I
Italian Language (Italy)
S
Spanish Language (Spain)
The following are only seen in small numbers, with a couple of

3

each. Most of these languages are usually only selectable in
game, if present at all.
P
Portuguese Language
N
Norwegian Language
SW
Swedish Language
DN
Danish Language
FN
Finnish Language
When listing the languages present in the guide, I've done so in
Alphabetical order, rather than the order they appear in on the
back cover.
There's also a number of games that only include the Italian
language in the instruction booklet, with no Italian present on
the back of the box. This is indicated by a small i. There may be
other languages where the only inclusion is also in the
instructions, and these will also be indicated with the small
letter corresponding to their nation code.
For the Unlicensed, Region-Free releases (or WW as indicated
in the Region), there's a trio of types:
HBW
Standard releases
HBW-L
A limited edition of a release
HBW-O
Anything which doesn't fit into the other 2.
Code:
The codes indicated on the packaging of the
game (usually at the bottom of the spine or spine card,
sometimes only on the covers). It would take a 30 page
document alone just to go into the intricacies of Sega's coding
systems across the 3 regions, so I won't even attempt to
explain them fully. There's some basic rules that we can see
when compiling this list though:
In North America, the codes usually have the format T-XXXXN.
There are some without the letters, and in Brazil, the format is
a 6 digit code beginning with 197.
In Japan, Sega's own games have the format HDR-XXXX for the
most part, whilst 3rd party games have a format of T-XXXM.
There are several exceptions, of course, to this. Non-games
tend to have a code starting with 610-.
In PAL territories, the system had 2 main elements. Sega's own
games followed the MK-XXXX-XX coding system, whilst non
Sega games followed a T-XXXXD-XX system. The 2 digit code to
end the code indicated the regions released in (most
prominently, -05 was UK, -18 Germany, -09 France, -06 Spain,
-13 Italy, -50 multi regional), but this wasn't all stuck to.
Unlicensed releases follow their own publishers coding systems,
if they have one.
Note: The White Label discs don't have a code listed, but the 2
main cataloguing numbers used for these (as printed on the
discs) are indicated below the entries.
Interesting Details Below each entry, I've included any
interesting details I feel are necessary to know. These can be
anything from a note on the type of release, to the name the
game was released under in other regions, to the contents of a
Limited edition.

About Me: An Avid DC collector, I'm aiming for a complete DC collection which is currently on track to
be completed sometime in about mid 2025... Hardcore Punk connoisseur, Trekkie, Star Wars Fan, Sonic
Collector, Gamer, compulsive list maker and all round Sega Fan Boy.
Favourite DC games are Le Mans, Zero Gunner 2 and Shenmue, but that no doubts every day.

A number of sites have been useful in compiling this list, without them it would
have simply been impossible. My thanks to:
The Dreamcast Junkyard – (www.thedreamcastjunkyard.co.uk) – 'The Best
Dreamcast Blog on the Internet' and who am I to argue with that? Now
celebrating 10 years in existence, the Junkyard had a hugely active 2015,
including publishing this very guide and creating the excellent DreamPod
podcast, keeping it at the very centre of the DC community.
Retro Collect (www.retrocollect.com) – Superb site with in depth collecting
tracking features, a growing helpful community and an ever increasing deep
database of information. Proved especially useful for European regional variants
and specific languages for each release. Regulars at Retro events up and down
the country.
Guardiana (www.guardiana.net) – 'The Sega Retro Database', and I'm not
going to argue with that. Massive amount of info available on releases, and
essential for any fan of retro Sega gaming. French based, but easily accessible
no matter what language you speak. Proved especially useful for some of the
more obscure Japanese releases listings, and it's in depth master list for the DC
was hugely helpful.
Sega-DC.de (www.sega-DC.de) – German site which has massive amounts of
info on the Dreamcast. Specific help for Magazine cover disc listings and White
Label Promo disc listings. Although not complete, and with a particular
language barrier for non-German users, Sega-DC is a hugely impressive and
informative destination for all DC fans.
Segagaga Domain – (www.segagagadomain.com) – A long standing site
which has plenty of short reviews for many games released on Sega systems.
Proved helpful especially for Limited edition Japanese release contents.
Gamefaqs – (www.gamefaqs.com/dreamcast/) - Helpful to a generation or
two of gamers with their user-created guides, Gamefaqs also contains several
listings for DC games which were massively helpful. KinsukeJP's list of Japanese
released games was excellent at getting some details on Japanese releases.
SegaAge – (www.segaage.com) – Useful in getting info on US releases, it's the
forums in particular that have been particularly helpful, especially when it
comes to the US variants of DC releases.
Executter.info – (http://executter.info/) Personal site of the user 'Executter',
his work on a thoroughly detailed White label listing should be commended.
Segaretro - (www.segaretro.org) A detailed and expansive wiki with nearly
8,000 entries, and a huge amount of info on the Dreamcast as well as other
Sega machines.
Special thanks to Tom of the Dreamcast Junkyard who didn't dismiss my initial
e-mail to him out of the blue regarding this Guide, and has been a huge help in
getting this guide out of my head and into your hands. He's also one of the
nicest guys in the DC scene and does more to keep the dream alive than any of
us could even contemplate.
Also a big thanks to the Dreamcast Junkyard crew
My thanks also to David O'Neill, creator of the 'Dreamcastcollector.com' blog,
who has shared his considerable knowledge of Japanese Dreamcast releases
and allowed this latest version of this guide to be even more accurate.
And finally, my thanks and love to my Fiancée Leanne – I promise to focus
more on the wedding and less on the Dreamcast now!

So that's how the main guide here works. 1660 titles + (what
with all the new titles being released at a steady trickle). It's
been a relatively long process to go through each and every
title, but it's been an enjoyable and educational one!
Happy DC Collecting, and keep dreaming!

Japanese release title of 'Bangai-O'

So the Bangai-O prize edition, to give it the name most call it by. I didn't originally include this within the
original version of this guide, for a variety of reasons, but I've bowed to the pressure of the public (note:
actually, only 1 person noticed...) and included it in this version. The prize edition is quite possibly the
rarest Dreamcast game, although not a retail release. Instead, it's paltry 5 copies were given out, as the
name suggests, as a prize for a high score competition run by Treasure. A sticker (drawn and signed by
Hisashi Fujita) indicating it as a winners trophy was either attached to the case or included as part of the
bundle for the winners, along with a poster and a couple of other bits. Now, a cursory search online for
info on this edition will reveal several photos, seemingly all stemming from the same auction, of a
Dorikore sticker on a Bangai-O case as part of this – but this does not seem to be accurate (Bangai-O
never got a Dorikore version for one thing). At least 2 of these copies do seem to have exchanged hands
in the past, and their prices put them at the very top of the DC pricing scale, but those wanting to include
this game as part of their collecting goals may need patience and a deep wallet.

On sale for just 10 days back in 1999, Christmas Seaman was available as part of the Christmas Seaman
limited edition Dreamcast or through Sega Direct. It consists of a slip case containing 2 separate disc
cases, one for sending messages and one for receiving messages. It's not really a 'game', and the servers
have long gone, but at the time it would of allowed you to receive or send gifts with Seaman. Also
contains some stickers. The receiving disc (also called Present disc) has a separate code (T-39404M), and
was available on it's own via Sega Direct (and is listed below).

This US variant is a slightly tricky one. It seems that the original releases of the game had low resolution
screenshots on the back cover, whilst later releases had these replaced with better resolution shots.
Technically, the 'variant' would be the standard resolution one.

Limited edition comes in larger box with branded controller.

The 2 Ebc's of ChuChu Rocket in Europe both come with Dreamkey 1.5 (and this is indicated in the top
right of the covers), and are in standard PAL cases. The B9 appears to be a French bundle copy (possibly

consoles. Both, however, have the same 4 language blurbs on the back cover as the standard.

There was an unofficial pack released by the European Sega distributor BigBen which bundled a copy of
the game with a Mad Catz lightgun. As far as I know though, there was no difference to the actual game
packaging at all and there wasn't anything special about the bundle packing either (so no House of the
Dead 2 outer box like pack)

Both versions of Conflict Zone have all 4 languages on the back of the case, however the -71 code has an
English and German language manual whilst the -72 code has a French and Spanish manual. The Disc for
both is the same.

One of the Dreamcast games compatible with the Neo Geo Pocket Color link cable, enabling it to link up
with the NGPC title 'Cool Cool Jam'.

The Italian/Spanish release of Dave Mirra is one of the titles with no actual code on the spine. On the rear
cover, the code seems to indicate an Italian release (-13), but this is both Spanish and Italian.
All PAL versions of Dave Mirra share the same disc but have different Instruction booklets.

Not listed on many sources, the Brazilian release of Daytona USA is certainly not clear. In fact, there
appears to be a single solitary picture on the internet of it, and this doesn't show the back cover, and
those sites that do list it as released (inevitably Portuguese language sites) have very little information,
including a lack of any sort of serial code. Nevertheless, I'm including it here until definitive proof of it's
non-existence can be established. Suffice to say, if it does exist, it's going to be a very rare one indeed.

Daytona USA 2001 and Daytona USA are the same game; the North American release simply drops the

The Brazilian release can be distinguished by the mash up of Japanese and US style covers, especially
from the orange quarter circle containing the DC swirl in the bottom left of the cover.

Not listed on many sources, there is nevertheless pictorial evidence of it's existence on the Tec Toy wiki
Bonus section differs from the European and US releases (which, unusually for a Japanese developed
page. Not being fluent in Portuguese, it's hard to work out whether this did get an actual release, or
game, saw a DC release in the west before Japan).

Since the original release of this guide, I've been asked several times why I didn't include the D2 directors
box – a large box containing the game and loads of goodies (reports differ as to exactly what this actually
contains, but the game, poster and a music box is a definite, as is possibly a figure of Laura), which was
hand-signed by Kenji Eno, director of the game, who even hand delivered one copy at least. It's now
included. Collectors beware though – it's right up there with the Bangaioh prize edition in extremely
limited quantities, with around 4 or 5 known to exist. The game included itself is probably a standard
copy.

De La Jet Set Radio is the Japanese re-release (which includes the content from the western releases) of
Jet Set Radio. The Front covers of De La Jet Set radio is most obviously distinguished from the original
JSR release by the appearance of Gum rather than Beat. I'm not listing De La Jet Set Radio as a separate
entry for the 'Single Game Checklist', due to the similarities with the Western releases. In effect, if
anything, it would be the original Jet Set Radio releases in Japan that would be separated from the other
releases.
