Distance Learning Programs
K-2 Bird, Mammal, Fish Compare and Contrast
Students will interact with one of our Educators in front of three animal habitats. This program
focuses on comparing and contrasting African penguins (birds), Golden Lion tamarin monkeys
(mammals), and sharks (fish) by discussing how they breathe (air versus water), where they live
(habitat), body coverings (feathers, fur, scales), what they eat, and specialized structures (beaks,
tails, fins). A compare and contrast follow along activity sheet is provided. Conservation of habitats
and natural resources will also be addressed.
This focus correlates with and supports:

the adaptations of African penguins (birds) and sharks (fish) by discussing how they breathe (air and
lungs versus water and gills), where they live (habitat), body coverings (feathers, scales,
countershading camouflage), what they eat, and their specialized structures. Conservation of
habitats and natural resources will also be addressed.
