Employment and Social Development Canada- May 2017-present
Employment and Social Development Canada is a department of the Government of Canada
responsible for social programs and the labour market at the federal level.
I was hired on full time through a student work experience program. The objectives of the program
were to enrich my academic program, develop my employability skills, explore my interests, get insight
into a career as a federal public servant and potentially find a future full-time job in the federal
government. I was given a high amout of trust and responsibility in my position due to my consistency,
quick return rate and care I put into my work. My top accomplishments were:
Conducted data analysis and reports for the Service Canada 150 Days of Innovation project,
materials were further used in executive management's meetings
Coordinated and managed end to end implementation of Federal Internships for Newcomers
(FIN)- Service Canada, Immigrant Settlement Integration Policy Branch and Immigrant
Services of Nova Scotia pilot in less than 4 weeks.
King's Vice President's Office- Jan 2017-May 2017
The University of King's College, established in 1789, is located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It is the
oldest chartered university in Canada, and the first English-speaking university in the
Commonwealth outside the United Kingdom.
I was chosen by the Vice President to research incoming student initiatives for the university. My
In-depth data analysis, researched and identified current competitors and determined
content for marketing plans for programs to attract high-achieving students.

King's Library, University of King's College- Sept 2016-May 2017
Established by Charles Inglis, the founder of the university, the King’s Library accumulated a
large collection in 1802. The Library is also a museum, housing art, artifacts and the oldest
collection of ceramics in Canada. The special ambiance in the Library’s award-winning
building creates an elegant, peace-filled study space.
The university's library was hiring additional student assistants to help the library staff. I was given
the opportunity to work the morning and evening shifts where traffic was high and assist students
and faculty with all their queries. My accomplishments included:
Expert knowledge of data management systems (decimal systems, internal recording
systems, security and online public access catalogs).
Responsible for cataloging and serials, end-processing, acquisitions and coordination
Developed relationships with librarians throughout Canada to help ensure the quick
and on time delivery of materials for university patrons.
Department of Community Services- May 2016- Sept 2016
The Income Assistance program provides people in financial need with assistance with
basic needs such as food, rent, utilities like heat and electricity, and clothing.
I was chosen to work at the Department of Community Services to assist the
administration team. I was given more responsibility and entrusted to head and
complete projects. My accomplishments included:
Responsible for the internal coordination of Freedom of Information and
Protection of Privacy cases.
Coordinated, developed and completed a new system of client records dating
back to 1980s that lead to higher levels of productivity for caseworkers.
Worked collaboratively with caseworkers and clients to coordinate meetings,
transportation, housing/shelter, communication and food issues.
Assisted highly complex cases and situations dealing with high needs and highrisk clients.
Monitored program expenditures and reviewed case management practices in
accordance with department policies, procedures, and directives to further assist
caseworkers and clients.
Handled extremely sensitive information on a daily basis.
Lakefest Music Festival- June 2016- Aug 2016
A one-day summer music festival held at a secret lake in Halifax.
I approached the Lakefest organizers as I was interested in working with the festival. I had seen posts
on Facebook, but, I did not see a huge media presence and their media engagement was low. My

The annual Africa Festival of Arts and Culture takes place at the Sackville Landing on
Lower Water Street, in Halifax. AFRIFEST showcases visual and performing arts, as well as
the culture of people of African descent.
Afrifest hired me as an assistant to help out with the coordination and planning of their
festival. I was given the opportunity to take on more responsibility and bring my creative
ideas to the forefront. My accomplishments included:
Created, planned and managed fundraising initiatives with local businesses and
community groups to promote festival and gala
Communicated fundraising reports to board, attendance of gala up by 16%
Connected with the media to further AFACs reputation for community engagement- press
Performed media prep for director and board members
Managed promotions budget, tracked social media engagement.
Created and maintained relationships with Department of Communities, Culture and
Heritage, TD Canada Trust, Atlantic Superstore, Province of Nova Scotia, CBC, MLA’s office
and Waterfront Development for support and promotion of the festival.
